The Spain-based indie games publisher and game developer Main Loop are today very delighted and pleased to announce that their retro-like beat-em-up game “Itadaki Smash” is coming to PC (via Steam) and the PS4 (via PSN) on May 21st, 2021 at the price of 14,99$ / 14,99€ / 12,99₤ on launch.

The story takes place in a fictional cyberpunk future in the city of San Daigo. Yakuza from the Tengogo clan are controlling all restaurants in the city except for Pan Pan, the place with the best cuisine in town, so they sneak into the restaurant, stole their magic ancient recipes and set a curse that affects all food by morphing it into akumas.

José Antonio Muñoz and Jasone Irastorza, co-founders of Spanish game development studio Main Loop. “We are proud to make our contribution to a classic game genre that defined ourselves as gamers and also game creators.”, Muñoz explains. “We hope fans will love the old school gameplay, the fun tone and the obvious references to several classic games.”

Players will take control of Katsu, Naru, Tako and Mayo, owners and friends from Pan Pan restaurant, whose are forced to fight all demonic food along with every punk from the Tengogo clan they find on their way to recover the magic recipes.

All our heroes have also been cursed as akumas, receiving different powers to overcome their mission. Guided by the spirit of their elder grandmother, they will fight their way through the streets to change things back to where they belong.

Because of the game genre, this videogame is targeted mostly to an adult audience that enjoyed videogames way back at the arcade venues. However, because of the cell-shaded cartoon style of the game, fantasy non violence setting, fast gameplay and all the fun a couch multiplayer game delivers, could also be appealing to a younger audience.

Itadaki Smash is all about fun and frenzied gameplay, from the story mode through the hardcore arcade mode, or the endless arena mode where you can unlock different scenarios and the thrilling Versus (VS) mode where you can fight against another player. All in all, a fully fledged Beat ’em Up experience you don’t want to miss!
