Press release:
13 MAY 2021.
Indie games developer Spare Parts Oasis and video game publisher Armor Games Studios today announced with great joy and excitement that their enigmatic VR adventure game “A Rogue Escape” is coming to PC via the Oculus Quest and Steam store on June 10th, 2021.
In celebration, Armor is pleased to reveal a brand-new trailer, giving a closer glimpse at A Rogue Escape’s giant mech cockpits.
A Rogue Escape is a reimagining of 2019’s IndieCade nominated rogue-lite puzzle game Nauticrawl, which tasked players with commandeering a hulking machine, learning how to use its seemingly inscrutable control deck and piloting it to safety.
The team partnered with VR development studio, Sylphe Labs, to reimagine the titular Nauticrawl as a completely 3D inhabitable space.
In 2021’s A Rogue Escape, players will step foot onto a Nauticrawl in full VR and experience a completely gargantuan steampunk setting, loaded with an array of switches, buttons, screens and levers,
Evocative of escape rooms and the ingenuity native to the genre, A Rogue Escape tasks players to use clues left behind by former operators to master unique mechanics and solve puzzles to progress through five distinct control centers
In comparison to Nauticrawl’s distinct and unforgiving rogue-lite gameplay, developer Spare Parts Oasis has built A Rogue Escape from the ground up to deliver a tense, atmospheric experience, on par with some of the very best escape rooms.
The team partnered with VR development studio, Sylphe Labs, to reimagine Nauticrawl’s titular vehicle as a completely 3D inhabitable space, which can be enjoyed standing or sitting in any size space.
Spare Parts Oasis’ Andrea Interguglielmi said “With A Rogue Escape, I got the rare opportunity to realize my childhood dream of what it would really feel like to be inside a mysterious machine, surrounded by buttons and levers to experiment with, while danger lurks outside of the riveted metallic walls!
Combining an escape room with dungeon crawling and cockpit simulation was a daring concept back when I did this on PC with my previous title Nauticrawl, but somehow it feels right at home with a headset on and a fully immersive and tactile environment to experience. I just feel truly excited to share this unique adventure with all VR players willing to be challenged by this colossal machine!”
A Rogue Escape will launch on June 10th on the Oculus Store and via SteamVR, with compatibility for Oculus Quest and Rift platforms, HTC Vive, and Valve Index.
