***SPOILER WARNING!***
White Canary is confirmed to appear in Arrow Season 4 ep. 8, the crossover episode. Caity Lotz who plays Sara Lance on Arrow is gearing up to return to the series in a major way. For those not aware Sara Lance was killed in the beginning episodes of Arrow Season 3 by a then unknown assailant. Once brought into the light, the assailant, Thea Queen was the object that the League of Assassin’s sought to destroy throughout the season—along with Starling City—which set up the entire story for Arrow Season 3.
There are quite a few facts, and checkpoints we’re going to point out shortly but first we want to clarify just how White Canary will fit into Legends of Tomorrow along with the rest of the team. Marc Guggenheim sat with E! Online and shed light on the status of Legends of Tomorrow.
“The White Canary will be launched in the first few episodes of Arrow. 4×08, our typical crossover episode, will be doing a lot of heavy lifting in terms of getting Legends of Tomorrow characters set up and also seeing where they are with relation to The Flash. It’s a big episode.”
We’ve always known Sara would be involved in either Arrow or Legends of Tomorrow for a while—just not how. What we’ll point out now however is why her resurrection is perfect for Arrow Season 4, and just what it could mean for some characters.
Oliver receives forgiveness
Oliver had a very hard time dealing with Sara’s death along with everyone else on the team. Even worse, he blamed himself for her becoming an assassin then being murdered as a result of her occupation spurred by his taking her on the Queen’s Gambit. The best thing to ask in this situation is—will he receive the redemption he seeks when she returns? And will Thea as well?
If we see all of the characters interact for more than a few minutes, we could receive an in-depth look at just how they’ve developed mentally and emotionally during Sara’s absence. The beginning of the season is supposed to fulfill this purpose, but there’s no guarantee that we’ll see all of the character development we’ve been promised.
Olicity becomes stronger
Oliver and Felicity are a thing officially—again. We know he’s not going to cash in his feelings for Sara again and has made his peace with her death. Knowing she’ll live again and is going to continue her life in other ways can only inspire him to keep working hard as the Green Arrow. What we know from past seasons is that Felicity can be just as badass as Oliver and as strong as members of A.R.G.U.S. with her hacking skills.
Olicity will be tested this season, but not from a purely relationship angle. Felicity’s father Damain Darhk is the official baddie of the season, and he’s looking to reconnect with his daughter.
Lazarus Pit’s Mystery solved by Sara being resurrected
Malcolm Merlyn is Ra’s Al Ghul, and Nyssa Al Ghul hasn’t killed him yet. There has to be a reason for that. With Sara’s death, she could have decided to help to solidify his status in her father’s absence based upon a few sole conditions. A. that she will have Sara resurrected and B. that she’s allowed freedom to be in the League of assassin’s as she pleases. If you’ll remember Marc Guggenheim also wanted to crossover Constantine with Arrow, despite Constantine being cancelled by NBC. The premise was that Constantine would help to unlock the mysteries of the Lazarus Pit’s waters.
Don’t worry fans, we’ll have a lot more for you on all these great series as they develop. And don’t forget we’ve got The Flash on Oct. 6th, 2015. Arrow premiers on October 7th and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is expected to debut on The CW by the first half of 2016.
