The Poland-based indie games developer DreamWay Games are today super excited and delighted to announce that their dark-fantasy rogue-like strategy game “Ankh Tower” is coming to PC via Steam in 2022.

“We want each player to take a journey into a deeply mystical universe full of dark magic, brutal enemies, and evil powers. With procedurally generated gameplay – each subsequent play-through brings a different challenge, starting conditions, and the environment that strengthens or weakens each element.” – Said Wojciech Roszkowiak and Piotr Szwach, makers of Ankh Tower.

“A player has to think a few steps ahead to prepare for the next monster waves and survive.” – they added.

About Ankh Tower:
Ankh Tower is a novel dark-fantasy rogue-like strategy. You build and defend the tower that has Ankh, the sacred symbol on the rooftop. The player takes on the role of a mysterious wizard. He’s the only person who can defeat the evil powers that come each night trying to destroy the tower.

The key thing that makes the gameplay unique is that the wizard builds the tower making it higher to protect the Ankh. Each night the monsters attack the lowest floor which collapses when destroyed. It means that the oldest floor built will be the first to be lost. These mechanics motivate the player to think a few moves ahead and prioritize which floor should be built next. Permadeath is not making this task easier.

Each floor has its own different capabilities: some are defensive, some offensive, some magical, and some provide resources. Some floors offer new opportunities when others are built. Ankh itself can also be upgraded, expanding the player’s gameplay options.

A player will have to collect resources, use them and solve the dilemma of the next move – should he be safe or make progress. The monsters will get stronger every night, so upgrading archers, building the barricades, preparing new spells will be just a few options helping the player survive. Of course, from time to time an appearance of a powerful boss will complicate things even more

Ankh Tower has a magic system inspired by the greatest classical games from the dark-fantasy genre. It’s based on fire and ice – two antagonistic elements that impact the damage and resistances of both mage, archers, the tower floors, and the monsters. The player also has to decide whether it’s better to craft the spells quickly using disposable scrolls or to invest more time and resources to develop permanent runes that will stay with him until he dies or wins the game.
