Empire takes D2CL Championship over VG, Team Secret Wins First LAN at RedBull Battlegrounds.
Empire seemed to have figured out VG completely, beating them 3-0 in the Grand Finals of D2CL, with a 1 round Winner Bracket advantage. Their performance against VG in this tournament was 4 games won to 1 loss (in the Winner Bracket semifinals), each game won through simply amazing support performance by ALOHADANCE’s Disruptor. yoky’s Sand King came through for a losing Empire in the final game, the insane blind Epi-center into the Roshan Pit sealing VG’s fate.
VG seems to be having a hard time adjusting to their schedule, performing relatively badly in their games against a very co-ordinated Empire. They look dead tired and in need for a rest, especially Super and fy.
Meanwhile, over at Redbull Battlegrounds, Team Secret takes their first ever LAN win, 3:2 over iG. Their drafter for this tournament, s4, adapted to iG’s reliance on BurNing as a hard carry to win the game by counter-picking carries against BurNing’s carry hero. Each game that they won, Arteezy was able to beat BurNing’s hero 1v1.
S4 is often made fun of for his confident declaration of “I expect us to win every LAN” (actual quote: ‘My expectations are: we will get first place at every upcoming tournament’) when he was interviewed on as a Team Secret member during DAC (Dota 2 Asian Championships).
Either way, congratulations @TeamSecretDOTA2 and @Team_Empire! See you both at The Summit 3!
