Assassin’s Creed may not have a console title until 2017, but that hasn’t stopped Ubisoft from releasing mobile entries. Assassin’s Creed Identity will launch February 25th for iOS for $4.99. Although the game is just an action based RPG, you can still have a lot of fun with it on the go. The game will take place during the Italian Renaissance, and will allow players to create and customize their own assassins from four classes: Berserker, Shadow Blade, Trickster and Thief. Berserker is for direct combat. Shadow Blade is for more stealth-oriented players. Trickster is more of a jack-of-all trades, and Thief is for agile and quick movement, stealing, and trap laying.
From the available information, you can see a lot of familiar elements from the Ezio Auditore glory days from Assassin’s Creed II- Brotherhood. One of the best things that could happen for this particular game is that it is either sandbox, or feature’s open dialogue and interaction with notable characters from said games. Players will be able to take these character classes through story missions, “countless” quests, and visit settings like the Santa Croce area in Firenze or the Colosseum area in Roma.
Assassin’s Creed Identity is being developed with the Unity game engine, and uses controls like tap-to-move, dual stick, and gamepad. Players need either the iPad 3 or later, iPhone 5 or later, and have iOS 7 installed. Coming up February 3, Ubisoft will be releasing more information on the game and will show “how Assassin’s Creed was re-imagined on mobile.”
As for the future of the Assassin’s Creed series, Ubisoft has defended that there will not be an installment for 2016 at all. With The Division being in Beta currently, and Far Cry Primal on the books, it’s safe to say their plate is full. In anticipation of Assassin’s Creed Identity, stay tuned for more info on the Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender (which is in development as we speak).
