Press release:
July 22nd, 2019 — Targem Games and Gaijin Entertainment are announcing the release of the “Wasteland Cup” update for “Crossout“, which adds a car-based football championship to the game.
Dress-up your post-apocalyptic combat car like a true football fan van with new items like vuvuzelas and thematic stickers, enjoy the new PvP map “Crater” and the other changes coming with this update, plenty of which aimed at making life easier for players that are just starting out.
In the Steel Championship, players are equipped with special vehicles armed with harpoon guns. Those guns can be used to catch, drag and hurl a massive steel ball towards the other team’s goal. The matches are played in 3 versus 3, but players cannot destroy each other and thus need to focus on scoring goals to win.
You can take part both with a group of friends or as a solo player, in which case you will join a randomly selected team. Through victories, players earn rating points, raise through the places on the leaderboards and earn spots in higher leagues.
Participation in the higher leagues allows players to gain additional rewards for their matches.
For the duration of the Steel Championship, players can purchase the “Third Time” pack including the armoured “Fan Van” and unique football-themed decorations for it. The event will last until August 14.
The new PvP map “Crater” is named after its giant crater, with remnants of a crashed space shuttle in the center.
The map is an open area, which means you can have excellent visibility from any position. The “Wasteland Cup” update also brings some changes to the maps “Broken Arrow”, “Ship Graveyard”, “El Diablo Gorge” and “Lost Coast”.
Finally, this update aims at improving the experience for those players that have just recently joined the post-apocalyptic mayhem of Crossout. For example, new players will get the new light vehicle cabin “Sprinter” early, and maximum amount of parts a vehicle can be outfitted with has been increased.
This will bring more freedom to crafting your very first armored vehicle in Crossout with a new account, while a new chain of starter quests aims at smoothing the learning curve to make it easier to understand what is required to win and be successful in Crossout.
