Press release:
30 JANUARY 2020 – Developer NotGames and publisher tinyBuild launch “Not For Broadcast” into Steam Early Access with a brand new trailer today.

Not For Broadcast launches into Early Access with the first three chapters of high-pressure gameplay and will work alongside the community to create a full ten chapters, with varied consequences for the player’s actions.
“Look, mate – it’s not that hard.

Choose the angles, roll the ads, and bleep the swears. Just keep in mind that how you show these people will change their lives. Don’t worry – you’ll get paid either way!” – your Nightly News coworker, just before he resigned.

In a 1980s-inspired newsroom, players are thrust into the hot-seat of the National Nightly News switchboard as a strange new government comes to power. They are tasked with mixing four live news feeds, cueing the advertisements and censoring unwanted language, all while making impulse decisions that will affect the lives of everyone they show on screen.

Creative Director Alex Paterson said:
Not For Broadcast has been in development since late 2017. It’s been a strange experience making a political game as the entire world slowly falls apart around us. Sort of like building a house inside an active volcano…

The reaction to the prologue has been so positive – knowing that people are looking forward to seeing the first three chapters has really helped us push through the last couple of months!

We can’t wait to hear players’ feedback, and we’ve already been getting some really great suggestions for what they’d like to see in the seven episodes to come.”

Not For Broadcast launches three chapters into Early Access today on PC via Steam at £11.39 / $14.99 – with plans to work towards ten complete chapters for full release.

About Not For Broadcast
Look, mate – it’s not that hard. Choose the angles, roll the ads, and bleep the swears. Just keep in mind that how you show these people will change their lives. Don’t worry – you’ll get paid either way!

Not For Broadcast is an immersive, narrative-driven propaganda sim that lets you set the agenda.

Mix four camera feeds, choose the headlines, bleep the bad language – all under the pressure of a live broadcast. Will you censor the news and be rewarded, or expose the truth and live with the consequences?

Not For Broadcast is heading into Early Access with three full levels, and will work alongside the community to a full ten levels, with varied consequences for your actions.

Features:
Frame The Picture – Keep the general public entertained with your editing skills. You are the artist and the broadcast is your canvas.

Keep it PG – Censor swear words… or “unapproved” information. Keep the news safe for children and oppressive political regimes alike.

Hand-pick the headlines – Their public image is in your hands: run the story of a footballer’s new beau, or his last dodgy night at the pub? His marriage and his reputation ride on your decisions.

Cue the ads – Watch your bank balance soar or dive based on what advertisements you run. Customer satisfaction not guaranteed.

The show must go on! – Keep broadcasting no matter the cost. News stops for no-one, not even a category 5 storm!

Keep them laughing as you go – The stress of playing a part in this twisted political turmoil getting you down? Sit back and relax – The National Nightly News team will take you from laughter to dread in the course of a commercial break.

About Not Games
NotGames is a British game studio that opened its doors in 2013 to attempt to save the charity that brought us all together.

Coming from a bizarre background of Film, TV, Theatre and Comedy, NotGames aren’t your usual game developers. If you’re asking, we’d like to call ourselves ‘multi-talented all-rounders’, while our former employers would probably say we’re ‘unfocussed and easily distracted’.

Exhausted after the runaway success of the cult-classic NotTheNameWeWanted and the subsequent still birth of NotCoD (we don’t like to talk about it), we took some time out to contemplate our navels in a dark room.

In 2017, we decided to get the band back together, with NotGames 2.0 combining satire, social commentary and original gameplay into the dystopian wonderland of Not For Broadcast.

About tinyBuild
5 years ago two guys decided to make video games and created No Time to Explain. It was a critical flop, but a commercial success with the uprising of Youtubers driving sales to the game.

Since then, tinyBuild has been partnering up with dozens of indies around the world bringing you games like SpeedRunners, Punch Club, Party Hard, Clustertruck, The Final Station, and more.

We bring games to Steam, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. You may have seen us doing obnoxiously orange booths at PAX.
