The Montpellier-based (France) indie games publisher PID Games and Nantes-based (France) indie games developer Alkemi (the creators of “Foretales”), are today very pleased and excited to announce that their French-folklore-inspired roguelike “An Ankou“, is now available for PC via Steam Early Access for $4.99/€4.99 with a limited-time release discount of 10%.

Players can now step into the shoes of the Death’s chosen servant, equipped with a scythe and skills inherited from past lives, guiding souls through a realm teeming with demons.

Inspired by Breton legends, An Ankou puts players in the role of the Ankou, the last dead person of the year and the one who becomes a servant of Death. The Ankou must guide lost souls to their final rest, a simple task complicated by waves of malevolent demons and powerful bosses that get in the way. In order to survive, the Ankou must scavenge resources, craft powerful gear, and tackle various optional challenges and random events.

The game blends intense combat and strategic exploration with dynamic progression to keep players coming back for more. In these haunting open lands, hordes of relentless demons grow as the players progress.

Players will be able to choose between two playable classes: Soldier and Apothecary, which are the professions they had before becoming the Ankou. Each will provide different skills and tools for the task. The list of classes will be expanded during the Early Access, to offer a dynamic experience and feeling of progression on every playthrough.
