DreamHack, the World’s largest digital festival and one of the World’s leading esports companies is today excited to announce a new partnership with ZOWIE, provider of professional eSports products. ZOWIE is joining as the title sponsor for the DreamHack ZOWIE Open esports circuit in 2016! DreamHack Open was launched in 2012 and is DreamHack’s premier esports circuit, awarding over $1,300,000 USD in prize money across 24 DreamHack events.
2015 was the most successful year of DreamHack Open yet, with new events in Tours (France), London (England), and Cluj-Napoca (Romania), as well as adding CS:GO to join StarCraft II as the second official title. DreamHack Open in 2015 gave out over $750,000 in prize money, and reached over 44 million unique viewers over ten tournaments. In 2016 DreamHack will continue to build on this success, for the first time ever bringing DreamHack Open to North America, and with bigger prize pools and better broadcasts than ever.
DreamHack ZOWIE Open will feature 8 different stops in 2016 and over $900,000 in prize money will be awarded to many of the World’s best pro-gamers in both CS:GO and StarCraft II, and will in 2016 visit three new countries.
Thanks to this partnership with ZOWIE, DreamHack is tremendously excited to continue to level up the live production of DreamHack ZOWIE Open, experience for competitors and expand to new territories, as well as provide all competitors within DreamHack ZOWIE Open the best possible experience by exclusively using the latest ZOWIE Monitors at all events for competition.
The first stop of DreamHack ZOWIE Open will be hosted at DreamHack Leipzig, DreamHack’s first ever event in Germany, with both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and StarCraft II. The CS:GO tournament will feature $100,000 in prize money and 8 top teams competing to be crowned the first DreamHack ZOWIE Open Champion of 2016. The StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void tournament will be the first event of the year in the official WCS Circuit in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, and will feature 96 competitors from around the globe competing over a $50,000 prize purse. With $150,000 on the line be sure to tune in this January 22-24th to catch all the action streamed live!
