Press release:
SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL (March 18, 2020) — 49 game development and production studios, part of the Brazil Games Export program, were set to showcase their incredible talent during the 2020 Game Developers Conference (GDC) and at Game Connection America (GCA).

In light of the coronavirus-related cancellation of those events, the Brazil Games Companies Association would like to share some of the exciting projects in production for 2020 and beyond.

More than 140 companies, which comprise a major part of the Brazilian games industry, work in partnership with Brazil Games, the Brazilian Games Export Program, which is carried out by Abragames (Brazilian Games Companies Association) in partnership with Apex-Brasil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.

Brazil is currently the 13th largest gaming market in the world and continues to flourish. With a 13.5 percent annual growth rate, Brazil accounts for USD $1.6 billion in videogame-related revenue, second in Latin America only to Mexico.

Brazil-based developers and creative studios contribute to some of the biggest global video games while also steadily increasing the number of critically acclaimed original entertainment franchises made in Brazil.

This year alone, five Brazilian studios attended KidScreen Summit 2020 in Miami, four studios attended PAX East 2020 in Boston and were selected to be part of the prestigious Indie Megabooth, and 49 studios planned to attend GDC 2020 in San Francisco this week.

During GDC, twelve studios — with projects ranging from critically acclaimed action RPGs, multiplayer titles, mobile, and educational games, to genre-blending offerings and VR and AR games — were to participate at GDC@Play.

These include:

Broders Interactive
Cafundo Creative Studio
INSANE
GamePlan
Mad Mimic
Oktagon Games
Petit Fabrik
Rockgames
Rogue Snail
Skullfish Studios
Electric Monkeys
VRMonkey

Other notable studios that had planned to attend GDC 2020 include:

Kokku
Pipa Studio
Tapps Games
Aquiris
Rockhead Studios

In addition, three Brazilian studios were nominated for the Game Connection America 2020 Indie Development Awards: Dandy Ace from

Mad Mimic Studio, Sky Racket from Double Dash Studios, and Sword Legacy from Firecast Studio.

“We are extremely proud of the creative success of our studios and their accomplishments,” said Eliana Russi, Manager of Brazil Games.

“While we are unable to share our achievements and upcoming projects at this year’s Game Developers Conference, we are happy to provide opportunities to connect the incredible talent from Brazil with the world.”

“The talent and innovation that Brazil brings to the games industry is immense, and we look forward to sharing it with the world,” said Mariana Gomes, Apex-Brasil Project Manager.

“We have much to show off on behalf of Brazil and look forward to continuing to present our studios, talent, and independent games to industry professionals and players alike.”

More information about the studios that were set to attend GDC can be found in the “Brazil Games at GDC” catalog (https://uberstrategist.link/BrazilGames-GDC2020-Catalog) and in this video reel highlighting their current and upcoming games
