Barcelona, Spain, March 17th, 2020. Melbot Studios, game developers launch Melbits POD on Kickstarter. Melbits POD is a physical digital blend of Tamagotchi and Pokemon.

The POD itself is an AR, sensor packed, incubator of Melbits, the Internet Pixies. Melbits POD is a physical/digital hybrid game, merging Augmented Reality, virtual pets, real life puzzles and tons of customization. Hatch a collection of kawaii creatures using the natural elements around you.

A new Fantasy for the Internet Era
The Melbits are cheerful digital pixies living inside every connected device. They spread the good vibes on the internet and protect its delicate balance. The POD invites the player to become a Melbits Maker and create a cute little army of creatures.

As Melbits grow into adulthood you will eventually send them back to the Internet to protect us from the evil viruses worldwide. “In a world destroyed by the industrial revolution, the pixies found a new place to thrive, away from the polluted rivers and forests: The Internet.

Designed with Magic
The POD is packed with sensors, a speaker and LED’s, and combined with Light, Termperature and Motion, you can grow, evolve and hatch a truly diverse family of Melbits. These digital pixies are procedurally generated, offering hundreds of possible creatures.

The game offers endless possibilities of customization and over a hundred real life missions. There are different families and breeds of Melbits, and tons of combinations. As you complete these real life puzzles, you will unlock new Melbits, and with them new props and skills.

To incubate your Melbits you’ll have to expose the POD to Light, Temperature and Motion, with challenges like “Dancing in the Dark”, “Walking in the sun” or “Resting in the Bright Cold”.

As part of the gameplay you’ll be able to see your incubations in real time thanks to Augmented Reality, breaking the boundaries of the digital and physical world. Our reality blends and merges with the digital realm to offer a unique experience, with the emotional dimension of a Tamagotchi and the depth, lore and possibilities of Pokemon.

Inspiration
When David Montero and Iván Expósito founded Melbot Studios, the goal was creating innovative experiences for all ages that tore down the barrier of the screen.

The result is a truly seamless gameplay experience for a generation that has moved on from paper, but it’s eager to have real experiences in the real world. Melbits POD is the answer to that paradox. A video game that invites you to play in the real world.
