I got some good news to share with all you “Splatoon 2” and esports fans out there, because Nintendo Sweden (Bergsala AB) just informed us that the hunt for Europe’s best “Splatoon 2” team has just kicked-off (the text has been translated from Swedish to English, so I’m sorry if it’s not 100% correct):
“Regional tournaments around Europe will feature 12 teams that will be able to participate in the big European finals in spring 2019. Last week, the final took place at the Splatoon 2 World Championship at the E3 Fair in Los Angeles, but already the hunt for Europe’s best Splatoon 2 team begins for the 2018-2019 season.
In the coming months, top teams from all over Europe will compete in regional tournaments where a winning team from each territory will be appointed. These teams will then qualify for the big European final, which takes place in spring 2019.
The 12 territories are as follows:
Great Britain and Ireland
France
Germany
Spain
Portugal
Italy
Russia
Netherlands
Belgium
Austria
Switzerland
The Nordic countries (including Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden)
Each team will fight to take over the throne of BackSquids who were the ones who won the Splatoon European Championship in March. At Splatoon 2 World Championship held at the E3 event last week, BackSquids managed to defeat SetToDestroyX from the United States and eventually ended up in second place after the Japanese team GG BoyZ.
The question now is if they manage to keep their title? Will the French team El Firmament take revenge after the dramatic defeat in March or will any other super team come forth? Maybe Team 4D from Britain, the French team Alliance Rogue or maybe a whole new team from the Nordic region?
Supernova Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s family-friendly game that is about spraying ink and taking over as much space as possible. A truly colorful and chaotic four-to-four shooter that suits all ages and experience levels. Since Splatoon 2 was released in July 2017, it has been sold in over six million copies worldwide.
