When i woke up this morning i had no idea that this would be the day that i would get bombarded with feminist propaganda from all angles and directions.

And before i proceed with this article (this one goes out to all you haters out there). I just want to point out that i believe in equality for everyone. So take a deep breath and just relax before you continue to read my article, thank you in advance!

Anyhow, it all started with an article in the Swedish edition of Metro (normally i don´t read Metro, but today i did for some odd reason).

The article was dedicated to sexism in video games and the harassment that girls and women get exposed to while playing online. “Fair enough” i thought, as i don´t think that anyone should be harassed (in real, or over the net).

But the sexism part (which focused heavily on Capcom´s Street Fighter series) got me thinking a whole lot. As it´s a two-edged sword in the kind of way that you can turn anything (and everything) into sexism if you really want to (especially if you can make money out of it).

And that overshadows the “real” sexism, which sadly enough exists on all levels in our society. And that´s the kind of sexism that needs to be addressed to and taken care of.

Is Capcom´s “Street Fighter” series full of sexism?

Then you got the fact that most people doesn´t even seem to understand what “sexism” really means either. So i took the liberty to add Wikipedia’s description of sexism down below:

“Sexism or gender discrimination is prejudice or discrimination based on a person’s sex or gender. Sexism affects men and women, but especially women. It has been linked to stereotypes and gender roles, and may include the belief that one sex or gender is intrinsically superior to another. Extreme sexism may foster sexual harassment, rape and other forms of sexual violence.” – Wikipedia

And here´s the thing, media (and radical feminists) tend to only show one side of the coin, and only show the bad examples. So you get a very narrow picture of what sexism really is.

For example, it´s NOT sexism to create a video game character that looks good (female or male). But if you create a character that´s sterotypical, helpless and stupid, that get´s used and abused (sexually, mentally and physically).

Then there´s no doubt a perfect example of sexism (no matter the gender of the character in question). I also feel like a lot of feminists tries to take control of women´s sexuality and bodies, and use it as a tool for pushing their own agenda (for the sake of personal gain).

And there´s one thing that i have always thought of, but no one (or very few) has mentioned it in the case with sexism in video games. And that´s the fact that there´s a lot of straight, bi and lesbian women that enjoys the same kind of games that guys do (one of my female friends loves the DOA series for example).

Games which are considered to be full of sexism and misogyny according to famous feminists such as Anita Sarkeesian for example.

Many female Gamers enjoy the same types of games that male Gamers does. And still media pushes the idea of “Games by girls for girls”…

But how does that work really? I mean, how can one and the same game be considered to be both sexists and none-sexists at the same time?

Well, it´s because it’s all in the eye of the observer. And “some” observers has turned their video game cheery picking abilities into a career (no names given…).

Simply by screaming wolf and sounding the alarm whenever possible. And once again, this overshadows the “real” problems with sexism of today (real cases and real people).

But i´m not going to lie, there is sexism in video games (and the industry as a whole). But that problem won´t get solved by screaming out sexism about every title that´s ever existed (and that´s in the making).

In short, don´t look for sexism where there is no sexism to be found. Go to the root of the problem, which would be found outside of Gaming and the video game industry.

And that would be the world as a whole. Media, the big clothing lines, pr firms and such. THEY use sex to sell every day of the week. They tell us who to look, act, think and dress. They set the standard for what´s okay, and what´s not okay.

I also find it rather amusing that the whole thing with “sexism in video games” only seems to apply to females and female characters in games? I mean, just think about it.

How comes that it´s sexism if a female video game character has very little (to none) cloths on her, but not when the same thing goes for a male character?

How many games have you played that has had a half-naked male character? Pretty much every fighting game ever made has half-naked male characters, and many RPG games has male characters with very little (to none) cloths on them.

And most male video game characters both look great and are buffed to the max as well. So if you take that into context, and make a half nude male video game character.

Would it then be counted as sexism? Not necessarily. Because if the male in question is in control of his own situation, and don´t get portrayed as a sex/boy toy.

Then it´s not sexism, kind of like when John Mcclane (Bruce Willis) runs around half-naked in “Die Hard 1”.

Or to give a video game example of the same thing. The wrestler Max from “Streets of Rage 3” is bare breasted throughout the whole game.

Is that sexism? No, as Max is not portrayed in a sexist kind of way. (SEGA sure turned Max into a really good fighter though).

I would also give a female example on this as well. And that´s the “Bayonetta” series. Bayonetta looks great, she´s sexy but even so the games ain´t sexist (nor is “Bayonetta” a sexobject).

And why is that? Because “Bayonetta” does as she pleases, she´s not a helpless bimbo that needs to be saved by anyone. She takes care of business on her own, and she does it good.

But i would also like to give some examples of games that really has “real” sexism in them. And that would be games such as “Dead or Alive Paradise” (the females are just playtoys), “Soul Calibur V” (even the games ads used sex to sell more copies of the game) and “Fatal Frame 5” (the whole game is like an interactive ecchi/loli kind of experience. The games females is nothing more than eye candy for the player).

Here´s the thing though. You have the freedom of choice NOT to support the devs that make this kinds of games. So if you don´t like games of this kind, then simply don´t buy them.

You also have the opportunity to speak up your mind about games that you don´t like (because of sexist content for example), thanks to freedom of speech.

As for me, i like strong, smart and independent women. Women like Samus Aran (the old version, before she got turned into a bimbo), Jade (Beyond Good & Evil), Konoko (Oni), Heather Mason (Silent Hill 3), Chell (Portal), Alyx Vance (Half-Life 2) and Bayonetta of course.

What people need to understand is this. There´s a huge difference between “strong”, oversexualized and damsels in distress kind of characters.

And many of the so-called “professional thinkers and opinion builders” are nothing more than hypocrites when it comes to this, as they tend to use double standards over and over again.

I came up with an easy solution to all of this though. Sure, it might not work for all games and genres. But many RPG, Mmo, simulators and fighting games already offers this option (read “solution “).

And that´s the ability to dress and modify (within reasonable limits) the games characters as they please (race, gender, measurements, cloths and so on).

That way, everyone can create the character that THEY want. It´s a win, win situation really.

Christina Hoff Sommers is the host of the Youtube show “The factual feminist”.

Sounds fair enough right? Well, so i thought. But i was wrong, because then i heard about Christina Hoff Sommers (aka “The factual feminist”) video “The war on gamers continues“.

In that video Sommers talks about ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and Anita Sarkeesian´s war on video games. As they plan to start a big anti-games propaganda campaign throughout the schools of America.

In short, ADL and Anita (Feminist Frequency) aims to indoctrinate the American kids with feminist propaganda. (they want to push the agenda that ALL video games is full of sexism and misogyny).

And guess what? Anita Sarkeesian is THE only assigned author for this assignment (what a surprise). So there will only be one side of the story. In other words, there will be no one that can defend or show the good sides of video games and Gaming.

Like that fact that more and more females play video games nowadays. Or that more and more females that get into the video game, software and hardware industry.

And Anita Sarkeesian will do her thing under the bandroll of “Is Gaming a boy´s club? Women, video games and sexism” and “Common core anchor standards“.

Anyhow, this is Christina Hoff Sommers response to all of this:

“A major humanitarian group has just come out with a lesson plan for high school students on sexism in video games. It is full of propaganda, vilifies gaming and gamers, and is likely to discourage young women from playing. Does this matter, or is it all just a game?” – AEI resident scholar Christina Hoff Sommers explains.

Milo Yiannopoulos has received some serious death threats in his carer. Still, the media don´t focus all that much on his story.

And i have to say that Sommers has some really good points and thoughts on this subject. And before i wrap things up (as this article has become rather long), i just want to point one more thing out.

Whenever a feminist or SJW get´s harassed or threatened they got a lot of media focus and air time. But when a non-feminist or SJW get´s death threats or what not, media doesn´t pick up on it.

Just take Milo Yiannopoulos for example. I´ve lost count over all the times that he has been threaten to his life. And yet, Milo don´t get any media focus (at least not to my knowledge).

So it seems like as long as you have the “right” thoughts, opinions and support the “right” people. You will get all the support and backup in the world.

But if you just happen to hold “different” thoughts and opinions about things. Then your all on your own.

In fact, it´s your own fault if you get harassed. As you refuse to fall in line and accept the outcome of the people with the “right” thoughts about things.

And let´s face it, Anita Sarkeesian (and her supporters) has shaken the video game industry since 2012 to the present. And we have now reached to the point of no return.

Because the creative freedom as a game developer is at stake here. As ADL, Anita, main stream media and the SWJ´s will do whatever they can, to shame mark games (and devs) that doesn’t make games that fall in the line of “Approved by us” products…
