Just recently we (TGG) were contacted by a 4-man indie development studio called Anomalous Games, and they presented to me their upcoming cyberpunk side-scrolling beat-em-up game “SOCJUS“. A game that is as political incorrect as a game could get, and why is that? Well, you play as Vivian James (#GamerGate´s mascot), and you fight against social justice warriors:
“Project SOCJUS is a satirical game about the internet cult of social justice, SocJus. Play as Vivian James, explore a cyberpunk dystopia with levels inspired by popular websites, battle hordes of Social Justice Warriors, and uncover the dark truth behind SocJus and their Orwellian plan to transform the world into a Safe Space utopia.” – Anomalous Games
I just watched the alpha gameplay trailer for “SOCJUS” and the game reminded me a bit about a mix of “Dex“, “Streets of Rage” and “Mega Man“. However, since the game is of social justice satirical nature, the game really sticks out from the crowd (did you notice the “5 reasons why we need to #KillAllGamers” poster in the gamplay trailer? Well, expect to see plenty more of that kind in the full version of “SOCJUS”). Furthermore, believe it or not, but SOCJUS is being made with zero external funding, no investors, no crowdfunding nor any donations. Well, I don´t know about you, but I find that to be rather impressive. Especially if you take into consideration that Mighty Number 9 had a four million USD budget.
So as you might imagine, I was really tempted to give “SOCJUS” a try. Well, I guess that I was to fast on the trigger. As Aaron (Anomalous Games) told me the following via mail earlier today:
“Hi Robin,
Thanks for your interest in our game! We don’t have a playable demo yet, unfortunately; the demo will probably be ready in early 2017. I realize there’s not a lot of info available on the game right now, so if you need more info for this or future articles, please feel free to contact me; I will try to respond as quickly as possible. Thanks again!” – Aaron, Anomalous Games
Yes, you guessed it. There is no playable demo for “SOCJUS” just yet, and we´ll have to wait until sometime next year (early 2017, so I´ve been told) before we get a chance to play the game. Nevertheless, “SOCJUS” looks really good so far. That´s also why I hope that I will be able to get the word out about the game. Especially since I have a feeling that some “certain” sites won´t mention “SOCJUS” at all, due to it´s content and whatnot. Even so, promising games tend to win the heart of gamers worldwide in the end. So I wish the Anomalous Games team the best of luck with “SOCJUS”!
As for here and now though, you will find the latest alpha gameplay video down below.
