About two weeks ago Pera Games (An indie studio from Istanbul, Turkey) hit the jackpot on Kickstarter with their diplomacy/fantasy/RPG/ game “Overfall” (for Windows, MAC, Linux, iOS, Android, PS4 and Xbox One). Due to the fact that 1,430 backers pledged over $67,000 to the games Kickstarter campaign. Not only that, “Overfall” had great success on Steam Greenlight as well (the game got greenlit not so long ago). And it didn’t take me all that long to understand why “Overfall” has been such a big success story either. Let me give you a little hint. “Overfall” is inspired by classic roguelikes (Fatal Labyrinth and Ragnarok I bet) and games such as “Warcraft” and “Divinity original sin“. And the graphics, soundtrack, characters and design are really topnotch as well. I also like the fact that “Overfall” is a mix of RPG, turn-based combat, and strategy (there are even some Rogue-like elements to the game as well). And with all of that combined you get a rather unique gameplay experience (I know, as I have played the “Overfall” demo. And so should you!).
That´s just the half of it though. As “Overfall” offers randomly generated worlds (no game playthrough will ever be the same), exploration and discovery, diplomacy and awesome sea and land battles. Don´t get too cocky though. Because if your heroes die, then they will stay permanently dead (it´s kind of like the hardcore mode in Diablo 2). Besides that, there are nine races (Orcs, Elves, dwarves, goblin, forsaken, hollows, trolls, undead and vorn) in the world of Dys (that´s where the “Overfall” universe takes place), tons of weapons, skills, trinkets and different classes. So, yes, there are quite a lot of stuff to experience in “Overfall”. That´s also why I would recommend you to try the demo if you like the sound of this. Especially since “Overfall” is set for a release in the near future (Fall 2015).
With that said, game on people!
