All roads leads to the International Game Developers Association
When I saw all the tweets about Ernest W. Adams last night (I’ll get to that part shortly), I was not quite sure who he was. As Ernest W. Adams didn´t ring any bells for me, at least not at first. But then my memory caught up with me, and I remembered this tweet from the 24th of October last year:
So who is Ernest W. Adams exactly? Well, his a 26-year industry veteran; game design consultant, writer, and part-time professor (according to his twitter profile). Not only that, Adams is also the founder of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA, which got founded back in 1994) as well, and speaking of IGDA, for being a non-profit organization. IGDA has caused quite a lot of scandals as of lately (don´t forget the blocklists scandal!). This time however, it´s actually Ernest W. Adams that has brought a lot of dark clouds over IGDA.
Ernest W. Adams doesn´t like big-boobed bimbo Gaming females, begone with them!
Anyhow, now you might ask yourself the following question “What has Ernest done that´s so terrible, wrong and scandalous”? Well, everything started with a statement by Ernest about “big-boobed bimbo Gaming females” and “blackface” (as seen in the picture above). And the Internet got caught on fire after that, since people took it as Ernest compared video game breasts to blackface racism. This of course, made me think about that one time when Lionhead Studios got into deep trouble because of their all so famous “nationalcleavageday tweet” in March this year. As SJW´s and feminists targeted big video game boobs back then as well.
So in a way, history is repeating itself once again (but with one hell of a twist I have to say. And as you might imagine, it didn´t take all that long before people started to call out Ernest on his statement. Thus tweets such as these:
One would think that Ernest would have called it a quits by now, but no. He came back for more:
And when people tried to point out his faults, Ernest simply switched his Twitter profile from a public one, to a private and protected one. That of course didn´t stop people from criticizing his behavior. I highly doubt that he cares all that much though, since he keeps on dropping crazy statements every now and then.
That´s also probably the main reason behind why IGDA (the very same organization which he once founded) now have distanced themselves from him, because according to IGDA, Ernest hasn’t been a part of their organization for over 15 years time (so sometime around 2000 then?). I don´t know if that´s the truth or not, but it´s quite obvious that IGDA doesn´t want yet another scandal on their hands.
No matter the outcome though. I still find Ernest rants about big boobs in games to be rather foolish, because, as you might know. Females come in all colors, shapes and sizes. So I guess that only females that Ernest has approved as “real” females (in his opinion) shall exist in our world and in the world of Gaming? Well, I don´t agree with that. And either does Ceara McCord, which has made a really good video on the matter. Check it out!
