I want to make the following things very clear before I kick this article off. 1. I (we) have ZERO problems with Pax whatsoever 2. It´s their house, so it´s their rules. With that said, I’m going to share my thoughts and opinions on the recent #PAXnavelpolicy and “Booth Babe” policies rants (Pax Prime started yesterday, and ends on Monday). Before I do that though, I want to bring up an old “incident” consisting of the world-famous cosplayer Jessica Nigri and her Juliet Starling (Lollipop Chainsaw) cosplay. Because back in 2012 (at Pax East), Nigri had to leave the Pax East show floor on day 2. Why? Well, apparently Nigri´s Lollipop Chainsaw outfit was considered to be too sexy for Pax East. So Nigri had to change her outfit from “too hot” to “less hot.” Or to be exact, she put on Juliet Starling´s default cheerleading outfit (as seen in the picture down below) as a substitute.

jessica nigri lollipop chainsaw cosplay

Jessica Nigri had to change her “sexy” Lollipop Chainsaw outfit (as seen to the right), to the “less” sexy default Lollipop Chainsaw outfit (left).

Sure, some may say that it´s “no big deal,” as it´s just an “outfit.” Well, that was 2012, now it´s 2015. And this time it seems like Pax has taken those “outfit” rules to the next level, and in case you haven´t heard about it yet. Then please allow me to tell you all about it. Personally, I found out about Pax new “aggressive navel” policy via Grummz (Mark Kern) yesterday. However, at that time I was not quite sure what all the fuss was about. Now I know a “bit” more about Pax´s new outfit and clothes policies though. So I decided to write about it (thus this post).

grummz aggressive navels pax

Correct, Pax has rolled out some new policies for clothes and outfits.

Anyhow, as I was saying. You can read Pax´s new “Booth Babe” policies for yourself down below (or via the link):

pax prime booth babe policies

“the aggressive display of cleavage and the navel”…In other words, “if” you break any of these rules. You will either have to leave the Pax event, or you will have to change (cover up) your outfit.

This was of course something that made the Internet boil with anger (thus the #PAXnavelpolicy hashtag), and that´s also why Twitter is full of images such as this at the moment:

grummz aggressive navels

“Aggressive navels”, I never thought that I would ever hear the word “aggressive” and “navels” in the sentence.

agressive male navels

I´m quite sure that “guy navels” are forbidden as well yes.

tarah aggressive navel

I guess that this is what an “aggressive navel” looks like.

Then there were rumors that Jessica Nigri had been banned from Pax Prime 2015. However, that turns out to be false. As Nigri herself spoke up about this earlier today:

jessica nigri pax prime 2

That´s Paul DuLong´s epic Mario cosplay btw.

jessica-nigri-pax-prime-1

So now we know, Jessica Nigri has NOT been banned from Pax Prime.

However, there seems to be quite a lot of confusion over Pax new outfit and clothes policies. As I’ve seen plenty of female cosplayers tweeting out pictures of both “aggressive navels” and “cleavage” from the Pax Prime event right now (I don´t want to mention any names, as I don´t want them to get into any trouble). So my guess would be that not everyone knows about Pax´s new rules (or simply doesn’t care), so it´s going to be rather interesting to see whether the Pax Prime security team will throw out people who show too much “aggressive navel” (or “cleavage”) on the show floor, or if they will allow it?. Sure, I understand if Pax wants to portray themselves as a family-friendly event, but “maybe” they should have a separate Pax event for only +18 people? Just saying…Nevertheless, as a Gamer i´m really enjoying Pax Prime 2015 so far =) (I´m watching the event via live Streams).

Anyhow, what do you guys and girls think about all of this? Let us know in the comment section!

LOL, it’s like the 50s are back. I’m not joking, in my country TV had similar rules in the 1950s (Obviously I wasn’t born, I’ve read it in the papers).

    • Sad but true, yes…And sadly enough, it’s even worse nowadays (it’s been about 2.5 years since I wrote this post).

What they don’t realize it’s that this is not progress, but good old sexual repression, the only difference is that back then it was in the name of “Jeesus”, while today is in the name of some kind of warped interpretation of feminism.

I know it’s getting worse, I think that it’s time we start to whine about how men are objectified and sexuaIized in media. If I had some writing skills I’d open a blog or a youtube channel devoted to analyse sexual objectification and unrealistic body image of men in media (maybe I’ll do it anyway).

Today this would be the only effective way to counter their attempt to “sanitize” woman’s image. I think that if they’ll start to perceive that their shirtless shots Justin Bieber (or whoever they find “hot” at the moment) are endangered, they’ll think twice before attempting to censor beautiful women.

I mostly agree with that article (except for the anti-blacklivesmatters stances), however, that article doesn’t addresses male objectification in video games, there’s plenty of cases, especially in Japanese games, of “bishonen” characters (good-locking, mostly non-muscular males), FFXV and shirtless Link being the last instances. You could write an article about it (Sarkesian style ☺).

Speaking of Japanese games: the so called SJW find them “sexist” just because women are beautiful and there’s a lot of fanservice, however, in this games women also have strong will and agency (and they often pass the infamous Bechdel test, I’d say that the majority of Japanese games and animes would pass this test). How come that they are not aware of this? Suddenly it’s not important anymore? The irony in all this is that they are the ones who are doing everything they can to preserve the stereotype “beautiful woman = stupid and with no will of her own”.

          • “I mostly agree with that article (except for the anti-blacklivesmatters stances), ”
            – Anti? I just pointed out that BLM was brought up during GDC 2017. Furthermore, isn’t BLM more or less a thug/terror corp? (funded by Soros).

“that article doesn’t addresses male objectification in video games”

            – Nope, but I could always bring that subject up.

            – That would be correct, and I have no idea. Then again, it’s not about “facts” or “logic”, but all about “agendas” for them. You are right though (imo).

From what I saw on TV, protests usually start as pacific, but I know from experience that in large manifestations you always find that few idiots that take advantage of the situation just to have fun wrecking stuff.

I don’t know by who they are founded, however, I agree with the reason why they are demonstrating: If I was black I wouldn’t want the police to shoot me and suffer no consequences. Police is a force that needs to be constantly kept in check, similar cases have happened in my country too (not against black people though), and I’ve always took part in all of the initiatives to hold the police officers accountable.

“- Nope, but I could always bring that subject up.”

Good, this needs to be done.

          • BLM is Soros funded:

            http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/aug/16/black-lives-matter-cashes-100-million-liberal-foun/

It’s the same old “divide and conquer” tactic that the NWO has been using for +200 years.

Yes, but black on black crime is the real killer in the US. Of course, but the MSM (and BLM) has turned that issue into a war on men and women in uniform (just like Soros and the NWO wanted from the very start).

          • gts-r

And the Tea Party was Koch brothers’ founded, that’s how Democracy mixed with Capitalism works: you have this elite of extremely wealthy people who can sway large part of the public opinion thanks to their money, their vote counts much more than just a single vote.

Having said that, I don’t see how BLM could possibly be divisive, recognizing that black lives are as valuable as all other people’s lives should be a given.

“black on black crime is the real killer in the US”

I’m sure that there’s also white on white crime, but that’s not the point: the US has a severe problem with police brutality and black people are more targeted than others.

This obviously doesn’t mean that only black people are targeted (and not only by white cops, sometimes the abusive cops are black too), but why attack BLM? I would join them and ask for police accountability, even for white people.

The real problem here is impunity: until everything a cop does goes unpunished not only the abuses will not stop, but the feeling of impunity will attract all sorts of fucked-up people with violent behaviour to this career. Because the abuses are allowed not only against men, but also against young women too (with rape being the only exception).

All this obviously tarnishes the image of honest men and women in uniform, but they should stop to cover their violent colleagues and be the first to adopt “zero tolerance” against them.

“(just like Soros and the NWO wanted from the very start)”

Why the NWO (supposedly an authoritarian order) should want a weaker police? If anything they’ll need a stronger, even militarized, police force (just like it’s happening since 2001).
