Press release:
London, United Kingdom – 26th May 2021.
The UK-based video games publisher Marvelous Europe Limited and game developer ACQUIRE Corp, are today very excited and happy to announce that “AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed” (the enhanced remaster of the Japanese-only PSP Game AKIBA’S TRIP Plus) is coming physically and digitally to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on July 23rd in Europe and Australia.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary in Japan this year, the remastered “debriefing action RPG” where players must expose vampires to the sun, will launch on Nintendo Switch and PlaySation 4 with remastered visuals, English text localisation and an all-new English audio option in addition to Japanese audio.

In AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed, players will be able to dive into the seedy underworld within the heart of Akihabara to uncover a vast vampiric conspiracy. To protect the streets, and to unveil the truth, players will join the ‘Akiba Freedom Fighters’ and do battle against creatures known as Shadow Soul by using advanced stripping techniques to expose their bodies (and their plans) to the light of day.

AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed will be available physically as a standard physical edition and digitally for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 across Europe, as well as digitally for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Australia, with an SRP of £34.99 / €39.99.

A PlayStation 4 exclusive digital deluxe edition, containing the base game, a 47-track digital soundtrack, a set of 10 avatars and a theme, will also be available via the PlayStation Store with an SRP of £44.99 / €49.99.

AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed is now available to pre-order digitally on the Nintendo eShop, with physical pre-orders expected to appear at participating retailers shortly. The Standard Digital and Digital Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 4 will become available to purchase on the PlayStation Store at launch.

About AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed:

Return to an accurately modeled Akihabara circa 2011, Japan’s famous electric town, and explore the bustling streets and back alleys of this otaku paradise. But beware the seedy underworld lurking in the shadows! After finding his missing friend unconscious and bleeding in an alley, young otaku Nanashi is attacked by a sinister figure straight out of a horror manga and left to die. As he lays dying, a mysterious young lady offers him some of her blood, both saving his life and changing it forever.

Now a Shadow Soul, one of the very creatures that attacked him and his friend, he’s been imbued with superhuman strength and stamina…and a deadly weakness to sunlight. Caught up in a world of supernatural politics, Nanashi must contend with NIRO, a covert agency dedicated to hunting down paranormal threats, and the family of Shadow Souls, a group of inhuman monsters. It’s up to him and his friends, the self-styled ‘Akiba Freedom Fighters’ to preserve the peace of Akihabara and prevent an all-out war from tearing the town apart.

Key Features:
● Playful Reimagining of Japan’s Electronics Mecca – Take a virtual tour of the Akihabara district circa 2011 recreated in painstaking detail, complete with accurate street layouts and shops based on real businesses operating at the time.
● Fight Like a Nerd – Wield an arsenal of replicas, collectibles, and other amusing objects as you humiliate vampires into submission, all while wearing a stylish array of customizable clothes and costumes.
● Your Choices Matter – Choose which faction to support in the fight for Akihabara and watch as your decisions affect the course of the story, culminating in one of several different endings.
● Full Dual Audio – Enjoy hours of voiced-over banter with a choice of English or the original Japanese.

Developed by ACQUIRE Corp. and to be published for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Europe and Australia by Marvelous Europe Limited AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed will launch on the 23rd July 2021. A Windows PC version of AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed will also be released on Steam via XSEED Games on 20th July 2021. This title has been rated PEGI 16 and USK 16.
