Press release:
The US-based indie games publisher/developer Top Hat Studios Inc  and Singapore-based indie games developer Yongjustyong, today announced with great delight and excitement that their fast and frantic retro-like 2D arena shooter “GUNKID 99” is coming to the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S/One, and the Nintendo Switch on November 10th, 2021.

Its fast and frantic 2D arena shooter gameplay was built for one purpose – to challenge your skills and reflexes! At the first glimpse, it may look like a standard twin-stick shooter, but it does bring a twist to the genre. Instead of focusing on your enemies, your goal is to collect guns when the timer is ticking, so move faster, will ya?

The addition mentioned above may feel like a small change at first, but the consequences are huge indeed. It forces you to move constantly and plan your steps ahead. There is simply no option to stand in a safe spot and wait. Also, each collected gun comes with a different set of possibilities. This changes the way you play by constantly forcing you to adapt to the new type of weapons. You can’t just go with one preferred gun through the whole game anymore.

You may be asking yourself, does it really work? Well, there is one statistic that should tell everything for itself. Gunkid 99, as of today, holds a whopping 97% of positive user reviews on Steam!

Naturally, a great arena shooter needs to give you a neat control system. Have a look at how the game looks in the movement on the announcement trailer:

Features:

Tight, fluid combat and movement. Double-jump, wall-kick and dodge-roll out of harm’s way.
More than 25 unique weapons to choose from.
More than 30 special abilities. Mix and match them for the ultimate combo.
More than 30 hand-crafted stages, each with a different layout and enemy combination that requires different strategies to deal with.
Deep combat customization with numerous abilities and weapons at your disposal.
Endless replayability. Hone your skills and compete for the top score on global leaderboards!

Gunkid 99 will be released on November 10th at the price of $6.99/£6.29/6.99€. The game will be available natively on both PS4 and PS5, and cross-buy will be possible on PS4/5 and Xbox One/XSX respectively.
