Press release:
PQube (London, UK) April 14th, 2022.
The UK-based indie games publisher PQube, Chile-based indie games developer Dual Effect and Digital Works, today announced with great thrill and joy that their old-school-like survival horror game “Tormented Souls” is now physically and digitally available for the Nintendo Switch.
After receiving a photograph of missing twin girls in the mail, it’s up to you – Caroline Walker – to find them. Your investigation leads you to Winterlake, an abandoned mansion turned into a hospital. Things quickly go from bad to worse when you’re suddenly hit over the head and wake up naked in a bathroom attached to machinery. Who put you here? And why? It’s up to you, to unravel the mysteries of Winterlake.
‘Tormented Souls’ is a return to the classic era of fixed perspective horror survival games – inspired by games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Solve puzzles and explore the depths of Winterlake, but always be aware of your surroundings – you’re not alone in the dark.
Releasing on PC and next-gen consoles last year to critical acclaim, the survival horror throwback ‘Tormented Souls’ is out now on Nintendo Switch and all other consoles!
Led to the small, isolated town of Winterlake, something terrible happens to Caroline Walker. Waking in the dead of night, naked and alone, hooked up to decrepit medical equipment, Caroline must fight for her life as she explores the halls of the abandoned mansion.
As the previous inhabitants run amok, you must scavenge essential resources and tools to decipher clues and create a variety of weapons to protect yourself from the darkness within.
The mansion may seem desolate and abandoned, but the deeper you venture, the more overwhelming the horrors within become.
From terrifying atrocities to vile disembowelled crawlers prowling the halls, these tormented medical monsters aren’t the only dangers that Caroline must face. There are also darker threats at play – quite literally. Early on, you are warned not to let the shadows embrace you…
Nothing is quite as it seems in Winterlake. Cleverly combine items and scour your surroundings for clues as you face cryptic and unusual puzzles scattered throughout the grounds of the mansion.
Mirrors provide a gateway to another place and time – investigate even the seemingly mundane to discover ways to manipulate the very fabric of reality and seek your escape.
Accompanying the digital version of the game, ‘Tormented Souls’ is also available as a physical cartridge on Nintendo Switch.
In partnership with our friends at FunStock, players will be able to purchase boxed versions of the game and receive an exclusive Sun and Moon collectable coin as featured in ‘Tormented Souls’.
Visit the FunStock store to order your limited Sun and Moon physical version of ‘Tormented Souls’.
