“We were wrapping production on Materia Collective’s NIBEL: Ori and the Blind Forest album when a small crew of us decided to try and throw in one last song, but we didn’t make it on time,” reflects composer and arranger SonikBuster. “That one song turned into a series of low-key songs that could be enjoyed around a campfire, or just before sleeping. After writing a couple of songs I decided to compose a few more and ended up creating Sleep Mode, an album of lullabies for other geeky parents like myself to enjoy with their children. I wanted to do something to show appreciation for parents like us, and for fans who would enjoy something intimate and comforting.”

About SonikBuster
Music and videogames have been a big part of Ashley (also known as SonikBuster)’s life. Starting out in a family band with her parents and sibling, she began playing piano at age four, won her first vocal competition at age nine, and began composing her own music at age ten. Both her mother and aunt were avid gamers, introducing her to classics on the SNES such as Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. She went on to study music in college and persevered through mental illness, homelessness, and the loss of a child, all of which have influenced her musical voice and make her music personal for both her and her fans.
She’s currently based out of Lynchburg, Virgina where she lives with her husband and two-year-old son. She’s contributed to musical compilations including Chronicles of Time and Materia Collective’s FALLEN: Undertale Remixed, SUCCESSOR: Final Fantasy VIII Remixed, and more. Most recently, she’s released an entire album of game-inspired retrowave music called Sub{Vice}versive and will be releasing her first videogame soundtrack next spring for Miracle Mia.
