The original “Super Seducer” was a bit “controversial” when it came out, and the sequel will certainly do nothing to stop the “controversy”. Whilst that part of its release can be safely ignored, the game does have other problems…Especially when the host imparts knowledge from a throne, surrounded by women (and a few men) and quite casually calls the girls “chicks”.
“Super seducer 2” is designed around eleven different situations, with each having a specific lesson and aim, which usually involves dating someone – or going further. Richard La Ruina (the author of The Natural: How to Effortlessly Attract the Women You Want) plays both the host and the protagonist in many of the chapters, each of which is a video of around 30 minutes, with choices every so often. These choices change how your date interacts with you and the overall final score.
The videos themselves are nicely shot, with some good scenes – obviously a fair bit money was spent doing the program. The themes for each are well thought out too. However, there are numerous problems with the whole idea.
First off, everyone is rich, and I mean very, VERY rich! And as such the first scenario is probably a bit too absurd and (unless you happen to be well-connected and in charge of your own pharmaceutical company) it’s very doubtful with no doubt. As you’ll be able to get driven around in a tank, all while you get to mess up gardens without a care and then eat at a rather exclusive garden party. .
Leaving that aside, we get to the next problem: Your available options. These can vary between around 2 or 3 and 6 or 7 or so. The correct choices are usually easy to spot, although sometimes you have to go for the least bad option. And always, at least one option is either rather questionable or just plainly stupid, although it could be used as information about what not to do…
The acting in “Super Seducer 2” is generally fine, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Richard La Ruina was playing himself in the game – alternating between someone you wouldn’t mind hanging out with, to someone you would love to run over with a lawnmower.
Especially since La Ruina has no problems reminding ex-girlfriends of the time they had sex, in the most embarrassing way possible. It’s actually hard to tell whether the actress playing the aforementioned ex-girlfriend was pretending to be embarrassed or not.
Usually after each option, Richard La Ruina gives his assessment of your answer, with his wife giving advice from a female perspective. These sections are short and to the point which is nice, as it keeps the overall flow going. At the end of each movie, you are given a final assessment, with the ability to repeat what Richard has to say about each of your choices.
Well, at the end of the day. “Super Seducer 2” is a program that’s both incredibly embarrassing, extremely funny (for all the wrong reason), unnecessary and extremely American to boot. However, the game does provide something to learn from, even if it’s just about what not to do – or to be more careful about buying things online…
So my final say on my review of “Super Seducer 2” would be this. The game isn’t epic in any way, nor is it truly bad in any way either. Simply put, “Super Seducer 2” is a comedic seduction simulator that doesn’t take itself too seriously. So just take the game for what it is (hate it, or love it).
However, if you enjoyed the previous installment of “Super Seducer”, then you probably want to give “Super Seducer 2” a go as well.
Pros:
+ Nicely shot, and the general idea of each chapter is good
+ Simple to play
+ Get to make many choices through each chapter
+ Its playable, very funny at times, but can be rather embarrassing too
+ Advice Book allows you to get advice on unlocked options
Cons:
– In some of the stories, you sometimes you want to give Richard a good hard kick
– Choices are sometimes totally inappropriate
– Some of the actors look as though they would really rather be somewhere else
– The number of available options is sometimes a bit too limiting and aren’t really options at all – just bad choices
Gameplay: 3/5
Graphics: 4/5
Sound and music: 3/5
Controls: 4/5
Replay value: 3/5
Story: 4/5
Verdict: 3/5
Is “Super Seducer 2” a program/game that’s needed? Probably not. So, is the game worth buying ? Only if it’s very cheap or in a sale. Will you learn anything? Maybe. That’s also why I can’t neither recommend nor condemned the “Super Seducer 2”, as it’s just an unintentionally funny curio that the game exists. Nevertheless, some people might find “Super Seducer 2” to be somewhat useful to them. So if you enjoyed the first program/game, and found it to be useful, then you might want to give “Super Seducer 2” a go as well.
