2022 has been a pretty decent Gaming year so far.

What are some of the biggest gaming news stories in recent months?

Zynga & Take-Two Merger

Most gamers have heard of Take-Two and Zynga. Both are powerful entities in the gaming industry. Zynga primarily focuses on mobile games while Take-Two makes console games. The latter has created a handful of popular franchises, including Grand Theft Auto, BioShock, WWE, Borderlands, Civilization, and more. As for Zynga, the company produced Words with Friends and Farmville. Now, the companies have merged to create one company.

The move is the biggest corporate deal in the history of gaming. Stockholders for these companies approved the deal on Thursday with Zynga shares being removed from the market at close on Friday. As a result, shareholders of Zynga received 0.0406 shares of Take-Two stock and $3.50 per share. Once the deal is finished, it will have been worth more than $12.7 billion.

The move allows Take-Two to begin taking mobile games. The deal will quickly be overshadowed by Microsoft’s mammoth acquisition of Activision Blizzard for more than $68 billion. Shareholders of Activision Blizzard have already voted to approve the deal.

Vampire Ranked Mode Paused Until Updates For PS5

Vampire: The Masquerade is one of the hottest titles. In recent months, it has found new life thanks to its popular online mobile. It is described as a solid battle royale game.

Sharkmob has handled the development of the new game mode. While it has excelled, some problems exist. One of the biggest problems right now is the fact that the game doesn’t respond well to conventional gaming controllers. The game is currently available to PS5 owners and PC owners. However, the game struggles due to its crossplay feature.

Players using a PS5 tend to have difficulty controlling their characters effectively. Regardless, PlayStation 5 players are having difficulty keeping up with their PC counterparts. To offset the problem, the developer has decided to pause the game’s ranked mode until it can create a new update to address the problem.

Ads Are Acceptable

A recent report indicated that mobile games are okay with certain ads. Mobile gamers are beginning to accept in-game ads, but it seems they prefer interactive ads. The new report suggests ads can be effective for สล็อตเว็บตรงไม่ผ่านเอเย่นต์ and other popular games.

Ultimately, many believe this will be incredibly important since mobile gaming is a powerful trend. Things that tend to work in mobile gaming will also work well on consoles and PC.

It is estimated that people will spend more than $136 billion on mobile games this year. Roughly $40 billion will be spent on consoles and PC gaming. The United States is a third of the mobile market. The survey spoke to 4,000 players from around the world. A third of the players said ads might be okay depending on the app. A fifth was okay with ads if they received content and services.

Most respondents did not like video ads. Suffice to say, there is still room for developers to make money using in-game ads.

Elden Ring Falls Short

Despite receiving immense hype during its release, Elden Ring is not the most popular game of 2022. In fact, it is nowhere near being the most-played game of the year. Elden Ring launched in February and quickly gained a mass following. The game sold more than 13.4 million copies in a month. Nevertheless, the game is not the most popular.

Instead, a handful of titles are more popular among gamers. For instance, people are playing Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto V, The Sims 4, and Fortnite more than Elden Ring.

Elden Ring doesn’t even rank in the top 10 most played games during the first quarter of 2022. Other titles ahead of Elden Ring include Among Us, Animal Crossing, Call of Duty Warzone, Madden NFL 22, Call of Duty Vanguard, and NBA 2K22. Overall, Elden Ring ranked 20th on the list.
