Before I start my review of MGS5: TPP, I just want to state that I’ve been playing the MGS series since it’s PS2 debut with MGS2. And I have had time to play all the Metal Gear Solid games (1, 2, 3, 4 and now 5) as of recently. Even so, I haven’t played the other games before MGS1 to the PS1 though. Nevertheless, I aim to release some spoiler-free reviews of the previous MGS titles at a later date. Anyhow, let´s get back on topic again shall we? As I was saying, this MGS5: TPP review merely covers the basics of the game. At the same time, that should be more than enough to give you a clear picture of what MGS5: TPP is really all about, and what you can expect to get in exchange for your time and money.

metal gear solid v the phantom cutscene

You can expect a lot of powerful cut scenes such as this one in “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain”.

Where do I even start…The Graphics, the gameplay, the story or the music? It’s difficult to choose what to focus on with this article, because they all are beyond amazing for the fifth installment of the Metal Gear Solid Franchise. Oh well, I´ll start by showing you this early cutscene of MGS5: TPP (as seen above), as it´s showcasing just how sexy the game can be in full 1080p / 60fps / ultra, and for those who didn´t know it. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a tactical espionage action video game. That’s created and directed by Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions (against all odds actually, as Konami caused a lot of fuss during and after the development of MGS5: TPP).

Hideo Kojima

Hideo Kojima is now officially done with the Metal Gear series.

You play as Punished Snake aka “Big Boss.” Without spoiling much of the game, you’re out to take revenge against those who’ve wronged you and your comrades. The main premise of the game involves you sneaking into bases, extracting people, knocking-out guards and fighting over-the-top bosses (In which the series is famous for) MGS5 feels extremely smooth and silky from the very start of the game. The controls are great, there’s no issue plugging in a Xbox Controller on a PC if that’s what you like to do, and the game itself looks amazing even on lower graphical settings. (It’s also highly optimized).

MGS5: TPP is a worthy ending to Kojima´s MGS legacy.

So with all these positive things (which I mentioned earlier) combined .MGS5: TPP offers you a really great gameplay experience with no doubt (you don´t even have to be a fan of MGS to enjoy the game either). So I can imagine that Konami is going to have a truly hard time with the next MGS title. And I’m not just talking about the fact that Kojima has left Konami. No, because even if Kojima hadn’t left Konami. It would still take a whole lot to top MGS5: TPP. Yes, the game is that darn good! So don´t miss out on it!

Pros:
+ Graphics are amazing on PC / Max
+ MGS5: TPP don´t have all that many bugs and technical issues
+ Voice Acting is superb

Cons:
– I still miss David Hayter
–  Kojima is missing from the game box
– Made me cry with Kojimas farewell
