I still remember when I played Square´s Final Fantasy VII for the very first time on Playstation. It was around February 1997, and me and some friends had gathered over a weekend to play the game 48 hours straight (pretty much). Well, we wouldn´t be disappointed. As we had the time of our lives during that one weekend. However, the Final Fantasy series has changed quite a lot since FFVII (for better or worse). And many FF fans still consider FF7 to be one of the best games in the whole series. So I got quite excited when Elyn Studios contacted us about their dark 2D JRPG game “Omnis: The Erias Line” (which runs on the Unity engine by the way). As “Omnis looks” (and feels) like a 2D version of Final Fantasy 7 (but with its own unique touch and twist of course), that sure sounds interesting and impressing with no doubt.

“Omnis” is said to offer over +20 hours of gameplay in total.

However, Elyn Studios needs to collect £18,000 on Kickstarter to turn “Omnis” from a dream into a reality. Sadly enough though, it´s going to take a whole lot to save the “Omnis” project at this point. As the game has collected less than £1,000 at this time (with about 10 days left to go). Then again, it´s not Game Over before it´s Game Over. If you know what I mean? So I wish the Elyn Studios team the best of luck! (don´t forget to give the “Omnis” demo a try as well) And speaking of which, this is what some other people have said about “Omnis: The Erias Line” so far:

“[Omnis] looks like Final Fantasy, but walks and talks like an odd blend of fantasy and sci-fi.” – Connor Selinske, indiegamemag.com

“If Final Fantasy VII were a 2D game, this would be it.” – Azureguy, Kotaku (TAY)

“This gets all the little things right, and has restored my faith in commercial games.” – Red_Nova, RMN

“This is a fun new indie RPG with a dark scifi style and interesting gameplay and creativity.” – Resurrected Nostalgia, Youtuber
