Press release:
Paris, France, January 31st, 2024.
The Paris-based (France) indie games publisher Firesquid and Utrecht-based (The Netherlands) indie games developer Abbey Games, are today super happy and proud to announce that their creative amd charming strategy game “REUS 2” (the sequel to the famous God game “Reus)” , is coming to PC via Steam on May 23rd, 2024 (you can watch Reus 2’s very first gameplay trailer further down the page!).
Furthermore, Firesquid and Abbey Games has also just announced that “Reus 2” will be a part of the Steam Next Fest 2024 event (which starts on February 5th).
A first demo for the game is available for the Steam Next Fest from November 5th, so players can get familiar with the new mechanics of the sequel.
In “Reus 2”, players control giant godlike creatures with their unique biomes associated with them (taiga, rainforest, ocean, etc), shaping planets and setting human aspirations at their own pace, without a timer. Their actions will guide and inspire humanity: leaders, inventions, buildings, choices of development, and more will depend on the players’ nature. As humanity evolves, players will decide whether to support their aspirations or create challenges. If they are not satisfied with the result, they can always start a new humanity.
Reus 2 offers strategic planning and replayability with diverse ecosystems and organisms. Players will search for combinations of giants and environments that produce unique results, breathing life into planets with various inhabitants and shaping humanity’s fate. Studio Abbey Games is using its long-time expertise with the god game genre (Reus, Godhood) to polish this sequel and take the genre forward.
The demo offers three giants (Rock, Ocean, Swamp) that can create 3 biomes (Desert, Ocean, and Rainforest). A fourth giant (Frost) can be unlocked, along with the Taiga biome through the new metagame progression. Players can play as many planets as they want, but will only unlock up to the first 3 characters and their special powers. In this demo, players can only try the first era but will have a choice of 3 branching Turning Points.
Players can follow the latest information about Reus 2 on the Twitter/X account or by subscribing to the newsletter and adding the game to their wishlist on Steam.
