Press release:
[September 24, 2026] – Console players can soon get their hands on what IGN has called “the most impressive physics engine you’ve never seen.” Hyper-realistic driving title BeamNG.drive makes its way to PlayStation 5 on October 19th!
It arrives in an Early Access state, concurrent with the PC version, with ongoing active development shaped by player feedback. With its unique soft-body physics engine, PS5 players will be able to simulate every component of a vehicle in real time. Explore expansive open-world environments, experiment with a vast selection of customizable vehicles, and create your own true-to-life driving experiences.
BeamNG.drive arrives on PS5 around the same time as the v0.40 update comes to its PC version. The game receives consistent free updates every few months, offering numerous improvements year after year. Aside from visual improvements and other general fixes, this specific update delivers a brand-new vehicle available from day one, local split-screen support, FSR 3 support on base PS5, and PSSR support on PS5 Pro. Take a joyride when BeamNG.drive launches on PS5 this October!
About BeamNG.drive
Soft-body Physics: The BeamNG physics engine is at the core of the most detailed and authentic vehicle simulation you’ve ever seen in a game. Crashes feel visceral, as the game uses an incredibly accurate damage model.
Vehicles: BeamNG.drive offers dozens of refined, totally customizable vehicles for you to experiment with. Whether it’s a compact car or massive truck, you can tweak away at all the moving parts to create just about any driving experience you want. Wheels, suspension, engines, and more; everything is under your control.
Environments: There’s plenty to discover as you drive. Featuring 12 sprawling, beautiful open-world environments, the terrain feels as vast and diverse as the gameplay options. Test out your new setup through tropical jungle passages, barren deserts, urban boulevards, fast highways, and much more.
Free Roam: Don’t want to feel limited? Take any vehicle to your destination of choice and start exploring the open sandbox. Experimentation is also key in this game mode, as objects and environmental conditions can be manipulated. Try revving up wind speeds for a challenge, or altering gravity!
Career Mode: Looking for a guided experience and sense of progression? Career Mode allows you to progress from broke and driving a beater, to lord of all you survey with a fleet of luxury vehicles at your command – or a fleet of rust buckets, if that’s your desire!
Scenarios: BeamNG.drive offers a wide variety of scenarios for every type of driving enthusiast out there. You can complete a truck delivery request as fast and efficiently as possible, outrun police cruisers in a hot pursuit, or complete time trials to test your skills. No matter the situation, the realistic physics engine will engage and immerse you in the experience.
A sidenote on Mod Support. In general, BeamNG aims to achieve feature parity across platforms where possible. Mod support for PlayStation will not be available at launch: supporting mods on console is a unique challenge, and while the possibilities are being explored, the timing and scope cannot be confirmed at this stage. Mod authoring tools, such as the World Editor, are not currently planned for PlayStation.
BeamNG.drive is currently available in Early Access on Steam. It won’t be long before you can zoom through the countryside on PlayStation 5, so be sure to wishlist it now! Stay up to date with everything BeamNG.drive by following the game on X or Instagram, or joining the Discord to chat with likeminded car and physics fanatics!
