Many, many years ago John Carmack said that the mobile games would play a big roll in the video game industry (in terms of both technology and games).
John was right. Nowadays you can play really advance and beautiful games on your smart phone and tablet.
And thanks to the Unity engine (and todays powerful tablets and smartphones). Developers are able to push the limits for what´is humanly possible to do with a mobile game.
Like Targem Games and Nival´s upcoming iOS 3D strategy game “Etherlords” for example.
Etherlords are with no doubt (whatsoever) one of the most advanced and stunning mobile strategy games i´ve seen so far.
So i really hope that i will get a chance to play it on my iPad 4 =) Speaking of which, Etherlords has just been released to both iOS and Android.
So you can download and play Etherlords right away if you feel like it =)
What is Etherlords?
Etherlords is a 3D strategy game played in an isometric perspective. The game has a unique “world-building” gameplay mechanic inspired by Carcassonne: Players spend their resources to build tiles, which become living earth (terrain). The new land generates Ether and gives birth to Creatures that can be collected and deployed into battle.
While Etherlords is free-to-play, there is no stamina mechanic. Players can stay in the game (and fight!) until the batteries on their iOS devices run out 🙂
The game also includes a hefty multiplayer component with asynchronous PvP powered by user-generated worlds and creatures (which can be “fused” together with unpredictable results!).
There are more than 180 creatures in total—including Wolves, Dragons, Witchdoctors, Scorpion Kings, and even a mighty Colossus (see screenshots).
What is the story behind Etherlords?
A massive Cataclysm has destroyed the world as we know it—shattering mountains and streams into countless pieces. The player is an Etherlord—a powerful being who has the ability to create worlds, but who has no memory of the Cataclysm. When a strange new world is discovered—one that was recently rebuilt and somehow shattered again—the Etherlord must determine why this is happening. In the process, the player ends up learning the truth about the Cataclysm—and the dark secrets behind it. All players are Etherlords—battling each other for domination over multiple worlds (PvP).
What are some of the key features in Etherlords?
– Engage in breathtaking battles
– Collect and fuse stunningly detailed creatures and fight for your world—or conquer others
– Beat your opponent in just 60 seconds—faster than making a cup of coffee 🙂
– No need for a constant connection to play, and no more interruptions; enjoy PvE and
– PvP even when you’re offline
– Create entire worlds and feed them to your creatures
– Who needs “stamina” when you can keep on playing as long you want?
– Use unique combinations for each battle; sharpen your skills and become the
mightiest Etherlord!
