I don´t know about you guys and girls, but every time when someone mentions Seattle to me, I always end up thinking of two things almost immediately. And those two things would be the following 1. Grunge music (Paw, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and so on) and 2. Cyberpunk games (Shadowrun and Shadowrun Returns, for example). So I found it to be somewhat funny when I was informed that an indie games studio called Miga is working on an immersive story-driven sci-fi game called “HEVN“, and why is that? (so you might wonder). Well, it´s because of two reasons. 1. Miga is a Seattle-based indie games studio, and 2. HEVN combines the style of classic sci-fi/cyberpunk simulators such as “System Shock” and “Deus Ex“:

“In 2128, the world’s population is struggling for a better future. The Earth is hot, overcrowded, and divided by technology. With no options left, Sebastian Mar decides to join a dangerous celestial mining mission light years away. Hevn is an immersive, story-driven sci-fi adventure, set on an isolated planetoid orbiting a distant star. As Sebastian, you’ll navigate the physical and political dangers of Nomoni Inc’s highly controversial celestial mining efforts.

Although assisted by robots and a central AI system, you’ll still have to use your ingenuity to survive. Watch your health, fatigue and mental state to make it by on this faraway rock. But as you find yourself caught up in a twisting story of interstellar intrigue, you might find yourself with more than your own survival on your mind…

Inspired by classic immersive simulations such as System Shock and Deus Ex, Hevn is a survival game with a difference: one that invites you to investigate a series of rich environments and uncover a complex and human story.” – Miga

hello sebastian

“HEVN” really does give me quite a lot of “System Shock” and “Deus Ex” vibes. Even so, I can´t help to wonder whether or not the game will include any suicide bombing robots though? (SS2 still gives me nightmares to this very day xD).

You see, I find that to be funny because Seattle really loves the cyberpunk and Sci-fi genre a whole lot. So much so, that every time I hear about a new Seattle-based games studio. I´m almost 100% sure that they are working on either a new cyberpunk or Sci-fi game. I got nothing against that though, as I love games of that sort. Any ways, I think that HEVN looks like a rather interesting and impressive title so far (you can watch the very first trailer further down the page). Furthermore, the key features of the game look really promising as well:

– A richly interactive environment. Read magazines, wear different clothes, use devices and machinery, talk with robots,
and much more!
– A simulated world, including a day/night cycle and random events
– Use your in-game tablet to communicate with family and friends back home, as well as managing your current situation
– Explore the world on foot, or use the hovering Cargo Transport to traverse the terrain with ease
– Eat, drink, sleep, or take medications to help you survive. Hunt alien life forms and harvest plants for food. But be
wary, as no resource is infinite…
– Learn about the world by reading datagraphs for hundreds of objects. The more you read, the more expansive the story
becomes
– Use in-game currency to purchase upgrades, food, medication, and more – or send money back to your family
– Use tools and weapons to survive – fending off critters and solving puzzles
– Textual localization support for many languages including French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and more

hello sebastian server room

You sure don´t want to mess about when you´re inside of a server room. However I´m not certain whether or not you will be able to do anything useful in there in “HEVN” (hopefully, that´s the case).

However, I will have to try the game myself before I say anything more about the matter. Nevertheless, if you enjoyed the trailer just as much as I did, then you can show HEVN some love on Steam Greenlight.

And with that said, what do you think about “HEVN” so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
