It´s kind of funny when I think about how much my thoughts towards visual novels have changed in less than two years, because not so long ago I wasn´t really into visual novels at all. However, all of that changed once I started to play games like “Sekaiju Yggdrasil“, “Dragon dating simulator“, “Quantum Suicide“, “The Letter” and “The Miskatonic“. Because I soon learned that the visual novel genre is much deeper than I originally thought. I mean, you got everything from horror, romance, scfi-fi to pure lewd visual novel games (like “Undead Darlings” and “Elisa: The Innkeeper“, for example).
So, yeah. I´ve gone from not being interested in visual novel games at all, to “oh, there´s a new really cool visual novel game in the making. That´s awesome! I have to try it out as soon as possible”, and that transformation took place rather quickly (at least in my case). Furthermore, I have started to notice that more and more people are getting into visual novel games as well (no matter gender or sexual orientation). I also believe that lewd visual novel games are on the rise, because it feels like there´s at least one new game announcement of that kind every month now. Speaking of which, I just heard the great news that Crazy Cactus Entertainment´s lewd visual novel game”Maid Mansion” got fully funded on Kickstarter (which it did just recently).
“Maid Mansion is being made in partnership with DEVGRU-P, the team behind Panzermadels: Tank Dating Simulator, Stay! Stay! Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and Bunka no Kenkyu. They have a lot of experience helping developers create visual novels to their upmost potential, and we at Crazy Cactus Entertainment are happy to have them alongside us.” – Crazy Cactus Entertainment
In the matter of fact, “Maid Mansion” managed to collect twice the money that Crazy Cactus asked for (the Kickstarter goal was set to 7,000 USD, “Maid Mansion” collected over 16,000 USD in total). So not only will the game be released later this month (for Windows, MAC and Linux), “Maid Mansion” also reached all of its extended goals as well:
$8,500 – Umeko Romance
$10,000 – Layered CGS
$11,500 – Misaki Yamaguchi character and romance
$14,500 – Additional CGS
$16,000 – Super-secret romance route
In other words, the already impressing features list for “Maid Mansion” might just grow a bit bigger once the game hits the market:
Features:
– Play an eroge with a focus on well-developed, intricate, and fleshed out characters, including “romantic pursuits” (oppai).
– Multiple romanceable characters (Takako, Narumi, Umeko), plus several additional maids in our stretch goals!
– Story has a focus on light and dark elements, with LOTS of drama!
– Every decision has consequences; will you be kind and caring, heavy-handed and cruel, or simply take advantage of your maids?
– Multiple endings (10 currently scripted) for the main game! Win your harem or maybe even die! (Hey, nobody said being a lord was easy…)
– Some story elements are both funny and, more often than not, very risqué. [18+]
It´s also worth pointing out that “Maid Mansion” got greenlit on Steam Greenlight just recently as well. So I think it´s safe to say that there is quite a few Gamers out there that´s hungry for a game of this kind. However, if you´re still not quite sure whether or not “Maid Mansion” is your cup of tea, then you could just download and try the free demo for MAC, Linux or Windows. Nevertheless, if you do indeed find the game to be to your liking, then keep your eyes open for the full release of “Maid Mansion”!
