I can´t say that i´m all that jolly and happy over the recent rumors about Metroid (because i´ve been a fan since the Metroid 1).

You know, the rumours that concerns Nintendos cancellation of the Metroid 3DS game? (Next Level Games worked on that game).

Well, apparently we won´t get a Metroid game to 3DS. At least not if the rumors are true. And  “Unseen64” (he wrote about this story first) has been right about other cancelled games in the past.

I bet that there will be no new Metroid game to Wii U either.

So there´s a very big possibility that Unseen64 is right about the 3DS Metroid game as well. Anyhow, this is what Unseen64 wrote about the rumours that Nintendo has cancelled the Metroid 3DS game:

“Anywho, I have recently been privy to some cancelled Metroid stuff. I hope we can share some of that some day soon. It’s a bit complicated.” “It’s all a bit of a minefield, unfortunately. I try to be careful about sharing things that could endanger someone’s career.”

“This is a Metroid 3DS game, to be clear.” – Unseen64

And from what i´ve heard, Next Level Games were in charge for that Metroid game. But they canned the game, and started to work on Luigi’s Mansion instead. Seriously, why does Nintendo have such big issues with developing a new Metroid game?

If you ask me, it´s “almost” like the case with Valve and Half-Life 3. It just can´t be done. And both Nintendo (and Valve) seems to care very little about what their fans want (in this case, the Metroid fans).

I don´t know, it seems like Nintendo get´s cold feet every time it concerns the Metroid franchise. But if you ask me. I´m quite sure that a Metroid 3DS and Wii U game, would sell really, really well (if their done right).

For example, a new Metroid Prime game for Wii U, and a direct sequel to Super Metroid for 3DS. If that would become a reality, i´m 100% sure that each game would sell millions of units.

But what do you guys think about all this? And do you believe that we will ever get to see a new Metroid game anytime soon?
