I (Robin Ek, TGG) was just informed by Top Hat Studios that Epic Works (it’s a Ghana based indie games studio) has relaunched the Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming visual novel/action adventure game “Episicava” (the series is inspired by games such as “Fate” and “Tokyo Babel”). So here’s what Top hat told me:

“After an earlier attempt at kickstarting their debut project, small Ghana studio Epic Works has decided to split their debut Visual Novel into parts; the first volume of which recently relaunched on Kickstarter with a smaller goal. Episicava describes itself as a game “inspired by some of our favorite visual novels like Fate/Stay Night and Tokyo Babel.” The action/adventure tale follows Arin Arlento and his female companions as they navigate their world’s treacherous dangers and wonderful sights, constantly under the looming suspicion of a greater evil.

After a tragedy that left him betrayed, defeated, and lone in the cruel wilderness, the story picks up to follows Arin’s quest for retribution; one that questions friendship, revenge, and human nature itself. Surrounded by a cast of quirky heroines, it features a selection of scenes which range from slice of life to heart-breaking sadness to nail-biting action. While the game was originally planned to be over 500k words, the first volume will feature roughly 1/3 of that, and besides featuring the first part of the “true route”, will also feature routes for two of the heroines, the stern warrior Aniam, and the spoiled, arrogant companion Alacria.

The team is seeking only $2000 on kickstarter, looking for extra funds to help polish the project. The project is being co-published by Adult Games Distributor Nutaku and startup publisher Top Hat Studios, Inc.“ – Tophat Entertainment

Yes, there will be some lewd content in “Episicava” :3

So that means that “Episicava” needs to raise 2,000 USD in-order to become a reality. So far so good though, as Epic Works has already managed to collect almost 1,400 USD in just a couple of days. Furthermore, there is still 25 days left on the Kickstarter campaign. In other words, it’s very likely that “Episicava” is going to be fully funded this time (I bet that “Episicava” will be able to reach some of its stretch goals as well). I truly hope that’s the case, because then its said that the game will launch digitally for PC in September this year (via Nutaku).
