I think it’s safe to say that the cyberpunk genre is back in business again. I mean, just recently “Blade Runner 2049” and “Ghost in the shell” went up on the big silver screens all over the world, and there are plenty of awesome cyberpunk games in the making as well (like “Cyberpunk 2077“, “System Shock 3” and the remake of “System Shock”, for example). Even so, I got quite surprised when I spotted Devolver Digital’s announcement of Deconstructeam’s upcoming cyberpunk game “The Red Strings Club” (which I did last night). Why? Because I for one did not see that one coming. Anyways, here’s what’s known about the game so far:
“The Red Strings Club is a cyberpunk narrative experience about fate and happiness featuring the extensive use of pottery, bartending and impersonating people on the phone to take down a corporate conspiracy. The professed altruistic corporation Supercontinent Ltd is on the verge of releasing Social Psyche Welfare: a system that will eliminate depression, anger and fear from society. However, the bartender of a clandestine club and a freelance hacker don’t regard this evolution as an improvement but as brainwashing. Alongside unwitting company employees and a rogue empathy android, the duo will pull all the strings they can to bring down this scheme.” – Devolver Digital
Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m quite curious and interested in “The Red Strings Club” (the game made me think about a mix of “Blade Runner“, “Shadowrun” and “The Matrix“). That’s also why I got rather happy when I found out that it’s said that the game will launch for PC in January next year. In other words, I (we) won’t have to wait all that long to get a chance to play “The Red Strings Club”. As for here and now though, you will find the very first trailer for the game further down the page.
And with that said, what’s your take on “The Red Strings Club” so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
