I think it’s no secret to anyone who reads our content that I have enjoyed visual novels for quite sometime now (if anything, our previous visual novel posts is a living proof of that). That’s also why I got pretty curious and happy when DigitalEZ informed us about the Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming emotional visual novel “One Last Crane”.

“Hello dear thegg: We are DigitalEZ, a game developer and publisher behind the titles such as “Coffin of Ashes”, “Gun Wings” and “Oblivious Garden ~Carmina Burana”. This time we are cooperating with some developers abroad and making a Kickstarter campaign about our latest visual novel called “One Last Crane”, which centered on Yuuki Murakami, a boy who has a brain tumor.

After a long year of ineffective treatment, he decides to return to his hometown and meet his childhood friend, Saki Nishimura again. However, he finds another girl named Asuka Fujimoto, who happens to look like Saki. Could she really be a different person, or just doesn’t want to admit that she is Saki? Nobody knows… – DigitalEZ

one last crane love

“One Last Crane” is a visual novel that focuses on a boy who suffers from a brain tumor (the boy’s name is Yuuki Murakami).

Other than that, DigitalEZ also told us a bit about their indie games studio:

“Though we are a small group and still developing, our enthusiasm for game is not small. We are giving 100% of our effort on the visual novel, focus on every tiny particular and try our best to make it perfect. Now we need people to help spread the word, every shout means the world to us.

In Japanese origami paper crane is usually written as “千羽鶴(Senbazuru)”, which means 1,000 paper cranes. It is said that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes will be granted a wish. Our wish is to make this emotional visual novel comes to life. We already have about 600 cranes out of 1,000 on Kickstarter. Would you help fold a crane for us?

We would appreciate if you can help spread the word for One Last Crane, and thank you very much for reading this letter!” DigitalEZ

Cute girls, love, romance and very beautiful visuals awaits you in “One last crane”.

As for the plot and background story of “One Last Crane”, here’s what’s known about the story so far:

“”One Last Crane” is a visual novel centered on Yuuki Murakami, a boy who has a brain tumor. After a long year of treatment without any positive results, Yuuki asks for his final wish: to return to his hometown and fulfill his promise to meet again with his childhood friend, Saki Nishimura. However, as always, things are hard for him.Saki no longer lives where she used to, and no one knows her whereabouts. The last hint Yuuki got was from the high school Saki had said she wanted to attend—Shimizu High School.

Together with his adopted little sister, Mary, and his new tomboyish neighbor, Chihiro, Yuuki keeps searching for the girl, only to meet Asuka Fujimoto, the most popular girl at school, who happens to look like Saki. Not once has Yuuki doubted that Asuka really is Saki, but Asuka gives him the cold shoulder without admitting that she’s Saki. Could she really be a different person? Faced with the prospect that his life could end soon, Yuuki is determined to find Saki, even within another person.”

one last crane romance

The “One Last Crane” is said to launch for PC sometime in March next year (if the game manages to get fully funded on Kickstarter that is).

So “if” you like the sound of that, then you might consider showing “One Last Crane” some love on Kickstarter =) And since DigitalEZ needs to collect 9,505 USD via Kickstarter in-order to make “One Last Crane” a reality, they really need all the help that they can get. Especially since DigitalEZ is about 5,600 USD short from reaching their Kickstarter goal. Furthermore, DigitalEZ only got eight days left on the Kickstarter watch to collect all that money on time.

The “One Last Crane” demo contains the prologue of the story. So that should give you a better understanding of why things are like they are in the game.

My point would be that it’s going to take a lot of effort for “One Last Crane” to hit its Kickstarter goal before the time runs out. Even so, I wish DigitalEZFirst the best of luck with everything =) And one more thing. You can download and play the demo for “One Last Crane” right now if you feel like it (the demo contains the prologue of the story).

And with that said, what’s your take on “One Last Crane”? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
