Brian Fargo and InXile Entertainment sure are really busy at the moment. Because not only have they just released their RPG game “Wasteland 2“. InXile is also working on “Torment: Tides of Numenera“(which is set for a late 2015 release).
And just recently Brian Fargo reviled his plans for a “The Bard’s Tale 4” as well (via IGN). And the game will hit Kickstarter in the near future as well. At least that´s what Brian told IGN.
In fact, these are his exact words to IGN:
“This project has always been really personal to me,” Fargo told IGN. “It was a game that put both me and Interplay on the map, back in the day. And it’s also the franchise that launched inXile.”
“There will be plenty of combat diversity and depth,” Fargo said. “You look at something like Hearthstone, for example. It’s sort of that going back-and-forth process, and you see the complexity and detail and strategy and nuance that can happen. It’s really an amazing system. I love those modern influences. I took a lot away from that, and see things we need to do with our combat system.”
“It’s the first property we worked with,” he said. “The fact that it’s the 30th anniversary of the original makes it all just seem perfect.” – Brian Fargo, InXile Entertainment
All of this seems to be rather logic though. Especially do to the fact t that the original “The Bard´s Tale” was released 30 years ago (1985).
And the 2004 edition of “The Bard’s Tale” wasn´t all that bad either (also made by InXile Entertainment).
But it remains to be seen what “The Bard´s Tale 4” will offer us in terms of gameplay and entertainment value.
