Press release:
Tuesday, 8th October 2019 – Team17 and independent developer Playtonic Games have today proudly launched “Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair“. Available now digitally on Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and physically on consoles.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair follows the duo as they once again unite to overcome the dastardly Capital B, who has captured Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion and built a seemingly impervious fortress, ‘The Impossible Lair’!

Set across 20 exciting levels within an expansive 3D Overworld, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair takes players on a journey to free the Royal Stingdom from Capital B and overcome his most devious challenge so far.

As the duo explore the Overworld, Yooka and Laylee will uncover new secrets and puzzles that – when triggered – dynamically transform the environment into brand-new experiences and double the number of 2D levels in the game.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair runs at a silky-smooth 60fps across all platforms and also sees the return of Tonics, game-modifying potions that give players the ability to customise their adventure using new visual effects, character skins, more challenging enemies, speeding up and slowing down time, and more!

Gavin Price, Managing Director & Creative Lead, Playtonic Games, said:
“Bringing Yooka and Laylee back was a no-brainer! Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair delivers an exciting experience for fans of classic 2.5D platformers, regardless of their platform of choice.

We’re really looking forward to seeing what players and our passionate community make of the duo’s second outing!”

Max Everingham, Head of Publishing, Team17, said:
“We were really excited to see what Playtonic Games came up with after the original Yooka-Laylee, and throughout development Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair has continually shown that the studio knows how to deliver excellent and innovative platform experiences.

The implementation of 60fps gameplay across all platforms is a phenomenal achievement, and the ability to tackle the challenging Impossible Lair level itself right from the start of the game really throws down the gauntlet to even the most experienced gamer!”

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is available digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch™ and PC for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99. Physical editions are available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch™ at selected retailers globally.
