Several significant changes took place after patch 6.18 went live. What are the main points of the update?
Final Fantasy XIV is gearing for its 6.2 updates, and SquareEnix is making notable changes in recent patches. Patch 6.18 brought some significant changes to the popular MMORPG. The update was so massive that maintenance prevented players from accessing their FFXIV accounts for 24 hours. The most notable features that the update brought are the new Data Center and a new Data Center Travel System.
Final Fantasy XIV 6.18
While the recent patch is not as big as the anticipated FFXIV 6.2, 6.18 does bring tons of other new things. Several changes have been made to the game’s battle system. Some of these features are involved in farming FFXIV Gil or changing certain Quality of Life changes. Here are all the updates that came with 6.18.
New Servers
The most significant contributing factor to why the update lasted for 24 hours is that Patch 6.18 added multiple new servers. In total, five new worlds are available for players. Here are all the latest additions to the list:
Japanese Region: Meteor
Chaos Data Center: Sagittarius and Phantom
Light Data Center: Alpha and Raiden
In a recent interview, SquareEnix’s YoshiP discussed that changes regarding Data centers are two-parters. The developers will soon make even more changes or upgrades. It is unclear when the second phase of this category will occur, but many speculate that different worlds will be added in either 6.19 or 6.2.
Bonus for Creating Characters in New Worlds
New and veteran players are highly encouraged to create characters in the latest world. Devs want to populate these servers to ensure their sustainability. Gamers who make characters in these worlds will receive various rewards. Here are all the things that players can receive:
Double EXP bonus until level 80 (on the first login)
Gift of 10 silver Chocobo feathers, which are exchangeable for low-mid level items to help with the leveling experience (on the first login)
Receive 1,000,000 Gil (on reaching level 30)
15 Days of Free Play Time (on reaching level 30)
Bonus for Transferring to a New World
Aside from creating new characters in the additional servers, veteran players are encouraged to populate these worlds using their server transfers. Home World Transfers are available to any gamer who wishes to switch home servers. Here are the rewards available for adventurers who are looking to swap regions:
Transferring from a Non-New World to a New Server is free of charge.
Double EXP bonus until level 80, which is valid for 90 days after transfer
10 Gold Chocobo Feathers, which are exchangeable for special items
Adventurers who own private estates or apartments in their previous servers will receive a certain amount of Gil as compensation.
Data Center Travels are available for these servers, which allows players to temporarily enter a World within the same physical data center of their home server. However, gamers should note that this feature will be temporarily disabled when a target world becomes congested.
Crystalline Conflict Season 2
Final Fantasy XIV’s PvP League has officially concluded its first season. There are no further changes or additional content for Season 2 of the Crystalline Conflict. Gamers who landed in the top 100 in each data center will receive vouchers via the Moogle Delivery Service. In addition, every adventurer placed in the bronze tier and above can claim their rewards via the Seasonal Quartermaster located at the Wolves’ Den Pier.
Several class changes have been made to coincide with the second season of the PvP league. Several jobs falling behind, like Dark Knight, have seen several buffs improve their potency in battle. Meanwhile, classes dominating the scene, like Black Mage, have been nerfed.
Pandaemonium: Asphodelos
Several changes have also made their way into FFXIV’s Pandaemonium Raid series. The most notable update is that the weekly restriction for the Unsung Blades of Asphodelos has been removed. In addition, the weekly limits for entering every area in Pandaemonium: Asphodelos (Savage) have been removed.
For Savage mode, players can also directly enter any circle in Asphodelos. Two treasure coffers will now be standard for every run. In addition, the weekly restrictions on receiving rewards from coffers have been removed.
Preparing for 6.2
The recent changes from 6.18 seem to prepare players for the next major update, 6.2. While waiting for the next patch, gamers should make the most of the current version to earn more FFXIV Gil. Hopefully, the developers will release more information on upcoming changes soon.
