If you think USB flash drives were only useful for transferring important documents from computer to computer, then you could be in for a shock with no doubt.
You see, thanks to steps forward in USB flash memory technology, these multi-purpose storage sticks have much to give – with 4TB the largest capacity we’ve seen so far! For serious gamers, it means gaming on a USB flash drive is no longer such a silly idea.
More storage
OK, we’ll have to wait a while until the 4TB flash drive comes to the market. And a 2TB version still costs quite a lot for many gamers. But you can find 1TB USB drives and cables at a great price from places like RS Components.
With all this extra storage to hand, you don’t have to worry about your console running out of internal space or your computer memory filling up with all your game files.
Gaming on the go
It seems like an obvious benefit of gaming on a USB flash drive, but what serious gaming enthusiast wouldn’t want to be able to take their games with them.
By storing your favorite games on a flash drive, you can Plug and Play with your laptop or computer wherever you are. You don’t even need a reliable internet connection either! Handy for when your train is about to enter a tunnel.
The portability of USB flash drive gaming is also useful if you’re using a machine at school or at work that won’t let you download your favorite games. Just make sure you don’t get caught by anyone!
Are all your data being looked after?
As a hardcore gamer, you probably use more than one console or computer – and that’s awesome. It’s also no problem for your USB flash drive. Gaming on a USB stick means you can save your data from Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and computers all on one versatile, compact device.
You can probably even use your USB drive as a keyring so there’s no chance of losing all that hard-earned game data.
With faster data transfer speeds, more affordable prices and even bigger storage space, gaming on USB flash drives makes more sense than ever before in 2019.
So if you do your research on the various options available, there’s no reason why it can’t work for you.
So, with that said, what are your top games to run from a USB stick – shooters? Strategy games? MMORPGs?
