Year after year, an increasing number of users have been downloading mobile games. You can find numerous different titles; all you need to do is visit the Play Store or the Apple Store and check out what is on offer.

You will probably be stunned with how many games there are — in fact, in Q3 2020, 385,551 games were available in the Google Play app store.

Nowadays, many developers are attempting to make it on the gaming market. Unfortunately, for every mobile game that succeeds, there are countless which have failed. This usually happens because the budget has been exhausted and the game is not making enough money, or because users are uninterested in it.

That is why we have decided to come up with some development tips to help you understand what makes a mobile game perfect. If you are interested in this, please read on!

1. Excitement Factor

While making your game, it is essential to remember that it’s there to make your users happy and to keep them coming back for more. No matter which genre you opt for — a strategy, a game of chance, an action game, or a sports game — make sure your game is exciting. Try to understand why some games have managed to attract more players than others, and use that to your advantage.

Most of the time, users respond quite well to those games that have some kind of story. That’s because stories usually grasp players’ attention better. They give otherwise unremarkable characters and levels some sort of meaning and, even if users have lost interest in the game, they tend to come back more often to find out what happens next.

2. Great User Interface

The good-looking and uncomplicated user interface is another thing that makes a game engaging. That’s why you need to make sure your UI is compelling and captivating, without being too complicated.

So if you introduce too many controls and options, you may overwhelm your users, which will probably make them uninstall your game.

Furthermore, you should try to develop a game that looks good on all kinds of devices, including the ones with larger screens, such as tablets. Impeccable graphics are what most users desire, and if a game looks good, like Board Kings does, it is bound to attract a considerable number of users.

So, when designing a game, always consider the maximum screen size since you don’t want it to lose its quality and pixelate when expanded.

3. Availability

Once you have developed your game, you need to choose where you want to market it. There are numerous platforms to choose from; however, developers usually opt for either the Play Store or the Apple store, sometimes even both. We suggest choosing both of them only if you strongly believe your idea is viable.

Otherwise, you should test the waters first by making your game available on only one of them. Afterward, you can easily offer it on another one as well.

Moreover, it’s always advisable to make a monetization strategy that will help you come up with the right kind of plan. For instance, many games, such as Poker Heat, can be downloaded for free; however, if players want to have the full experience, they will have to make some in-app purchases.

Even if you decide to earn money from your game straight away, no one could blame you. After all, you’ve spent countless hours and considerable efforts developing your game, and you deserve to be rewarded for that.
