If you’re up to date with The Flash, you’ll have now seen Jesse Quick. This isn’t a shocker as A. Jesse Chambers is not related to Barry Allen by blood, but B. is a member of The Flash family of Speedsters. The CW describes Jesse as a college kid who will get caught up in Barry’s fight with zoom. She’s super fast, and can fly in some iterations of her canon in the Speedforce.
She doesn’t have the natural connection of the Speedforce that Barry has. In one of her many comic arcs, she has to say the speed formula, which her dad Johnny Quick taught her off of a math formula was off a pharaoh’s tomb in ancient Egypt. The formula was: (“3X2(9YZ)4A”). Her mother Liberty Belle activated her powers by literally ringing the actual Liberty Belle in Philadelphia.
Johnny Quick, Jesse’s father, did own Quick-Start industries a smaller company compared to Wayne Tech or Queen Consolidated. It produced a lot of innovative technology, and food products that maintained their wealth and social status. Think Wheaties, Gatorade, and Android devices. When Jesse got her powers, and learned to use them, she joined the justice society of America, and under Jay Garrick, one of the oldest surviving members founded a younger generation of Justice Society members. As ridiculous as this might sound, you have to remember these comics are from the 50-60’s the Golden Age era, so many heroes were out of sorts. The writers and creators tried to create characters that inspired American heroism, especially post WWII and Korean War stuff.
Jesse Quick doesn’t have much screen time right now, but we could still see her integrated into the show in a major role—especially since Earth 2 will be the landing point of the season. Barry has his work cut out for him, and Star Labs is just the hallway to a bigger plot that we’re looking forward to.
We might not see Jesse Quick fully integrated until halfway into the season, maybe around the same time we’ll see Jay Garrick get his powers back. Jay Garrick is Barry’s mentor at the moment. He’s had a little more time as The Flash, so he can teach Barry new techniques, and learn simultaneously. It’s understandable that Jay Garrick is alone in his world and doesn’t have a team like Barry’s to assist him. Star Labs caused the Particle Accelerator to explode and spread dark matter everywhere creating Meta humans thanks to Harrison Wells.

We also realized that Caitlin has no Meta human powers as of yet thanks to Earth 2 Harrison’s Meta human watch. Even so, Cisco has embraced his identity as Vibe, and is going to try to master his powers. Vibe is going to be the key to finding Zoom with his ability to sense what’s happening after touching a personal item of a villain. It’s important to remember that Cisco, Caitlin, and even Iris are all different on Earth 2, so we could also have a different Jay Garrick on Earth 1—if he exists. He could be Joe West’s doctor.
It’s also important to remember three things coming up in the show:
– Wally West could be the reason Iris’s mother has returned to Central City for Joe West. We know Kid Flash is coming, but we don’t know when or how long his identity will stay In The Flash season 2.
– Patty Spivot could become a speedster ie. Hot Pursuit, or Lady Flash. At one time in the DC universe she held both identities, and was one of the baddest Speedsters around.
– The speed force can be transferred, so we could see something similar to what happened in Brightest Day with Jay Garrick needing a recharge from the Flash family akin to a battery regaining life again.
To round things out, remember that Professor Zoom and just Zoom are two completely different people. Hunter Zolomon has a normal level of intelligence, whereas Professor Zoom is a diabolical genius. It’s easy to forget that there’s a huge difference in their characteristics, but they’re still speedsters.
– Jesse Quick is Harrison Wells’s daughter on Earth 2, and Jay Garrick and he aren’t exactly friends. This isn’t really surprisingly, seeing that Jay Garrick has made it clear Zoom is out to kill any (and all) Speedsters that rival him. There’s a theory that Earth 2 Barry Allen could be Professor Zoom, but honestly it seems very unlikely.
We know from what the producers have promised fans is that Vandal Savage is coming to The CW very soon, and that’s going to be an extremely important episode. Another odd thing I’d like to point out that Earth 2 tech reminds me of a few things like Fallout 4, Steampunk, and 1940-1950’s era technology.
This makes sense since Jay Garrick’s character is a 1940’s era Flash. However, it’s also nice that they made it futuristic simultaneously to kind of flaunt the old is new feel. One thing that I think we should definitely receive is an entire episode dedicated to showcasing Jay Garrick in Earth 2 so we can receive a better look at their Central City.
The Flash has done a great job of capitalizing on different characters so far as well, and if we did take a trip to Central City, it would be refreshing to see what everyone else’s doppelgangers had looked like. Barry Allen, Iris West, Cisco Ramon, and hell even Oliver Queen could be different. And don’t forget these last two things:
– Gorilla Grodd is coming back very soon this season
– We haven’t seen any trace of Eobard Thawne in Earth 2 as of yet
We want to know your questions on The Flash online ask, and we’ll answer. We have a lot of theories on what’s happening, and we want you to give us your thoughts in the comments!
P.S. fun fact: In the Big-Bang Theory, Sheldon wears T-shirts that refer to The Flash, and Cisco wears T-shirts that refer to Sheldon!
