“We are extremely proud to introduce DreamHack Masters in Malmö, to offer both Swedish and Danish fans the first dedicated stadium experience for CS:GO,” said Tomas Lyckedal, Business Development Director at Dreamhack “We’re looking to beat the production quality of DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca, which was our most successful CS:GO event ever. The visitor experience will be spectacular and we expect millions of fans to tune in online.”

DreamHack Masters Malmö will take place in Malmö Arena, which hosted Eurovision Song Contest 2013 and the home arena for the Swedish ice hockey team Malmö Redhawks. Malmö Arena was built 2008 and is the second largest indoor arena in Sweden, with a capacity up to 15,500 people in concerts.

Malmö is Sweden’s third largest city, and only a 7.8 km bridge away from the Danish capital Copenhagen. In the greater area, you have a population of 3.7 million inhabitants, one of the most populated areas in Scandinavia, Malmö Arena is located 12 minutes from Copenhagen International Airport, with two new hotels and Emporia Shopping Mall, featuring 200 shops, just next to it.

“Malmö while initially an unlikely choice to host this event, quickly became an obvious choice,” said Tomas Lyckedal. ”The combination of airports, hotels, shopping and a state-of-the-art arena like Malmö Arena will make this esports event special not only for players and fans, but also for partners, press and everyone involved”.
