ATLANTA – May 29, 2018 – More than 35,000 gamers and pop culture enthusiasts visited the Georgia World Congress Center last week for MomoCon 2018. In its fourteenth year, the four-day celebration marked for MomoCon’s biggest yet as they continue to grow the largest gaming expo floor in the South.

MomoCon 2018’s guest list included representatives from companies like Blizzard, Twitch, and ID@Xbox. Founder of Grasshopper Manufacture Suda51 attended the event with NIS America, announcing Killer7 for Steam at their panel hosted by MomoCon.

Twenty developers competed for a spot in the fourth annual Indie Game Awards, hosted by George Weidman (Super Bunnyhop). Judges Rami Ismail of Vlambeer, Austin Wood of PC Gamer, Tina Amini of IGN, and Darren Nakamura of Destructoid awarded the top five games in the following order:

SiNKR, Wahler Digital
Door Kickers: Action Squad, PixelShard, KillHouse Games
The Norwood Suite, Cosmo D
Epic Tavern, Hyperkinetic Studios
Mike Dies, Psydra Games

The developers of winning games took home a $1,000 prize and trophy. Next year, they will receive free exhibit space, a dedicated panel at MomoCon 2019, and highlighted placement in the MomoCon newsletter.

Over $15,000 in prize pools were awarded at the show as Super Smash Bros. pros ANTi, Dabuze, Wizzrobe, and others faced off in Smash tournaments casted by Twitch’s xD1x. Kevin Hong and Mark Candella of Twitch, Sabrina Wong of Immortals GG, and ELEAGUE also sat down with aspiring esports professionals for their panel, Careers in eSports.
