I don’t think that I’ve mentioned it all that much, but I’ve been a fan of the “Double Dragon” series since the very first game dropped for the NES console back in 1987.
However, sadly enough, the “Double Dragon” series hasn’t exactly had a “walk in the park” kind of evolution over the years.
You see, pretty much everything went down hills for the “Double Dragon” IP after the 90s (“Super Double Dragon” was the last really good DD game from the 90s in my oppinion).
So it wasn’t until WayForward Technologies and Abstraction Games launched “Double Dragon Neon” for PC and consoles in 2012 that “Double Dragon” felt and looked great again.
Well, the party didn’t last long, because both “Double Dragon Trilogy” (2013, East Technology Corp., Technos Japan Corp.) and “Double Dragon IV” (2017, Arc System Works) received mixed and poor reviews…
That’s also why I more or less gave up on the “Double Dragon” IP. However, I found hope in the series again just now. You see, I just found out that magggas0 has released v3.2.0 of “Double Dragon Reloaded Alternate” (it’s a “Double Dragon” fan production game project):
“This is the new update of the game with Andre and B.Boss Man as playable characters! There are also some more changes and fixes made.” – magggas0
Right off the bat, I didn’t even know that “Double Dragon Reloaded Alternate” existed. So that alone was news to me.
“DDRAV is a freeware game and it’s an updated version of my previous released Double Dragon Reloaded game. The game is an mix of the arcade DD1 and DD2, with the addition of extra custom stages, extra weapons and all moves from DD Advance too.
You can play all 5 different game modes as single player or up to 2 players co-op mode, and you can choose between 13 different characters to play.” – magggas0
Furthermore, I got even more excited when I realized that you can play as Big Boss Man and André the Giant in “Double Dragon Reloaded Alternate”. In other words, my day and weekend have just been saved!
So if you like what you’ve seen from “Double Dragon Reloaded Alternate” so far, then you can download and play the game for free on PC =) (you can watch the latest gameplay video for DD:RA further down the page).
