Capcom has marked the 20th anniversary of its beloved Resident Evil franchise the only way it knows how—by re-releasing the classics on next-gen. That’s right, for those who loved Resident Evil 4-6 you’ll get to play them in HD on the Playstation 4, and the Xbox One. Starting March 29th Resident Evil 6 will hit the Playstation network, and Xbox Live Marketplace for $19.99 ea. Following suit, we’ll be seeing Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 4 find their place for DLC on the networks.
For those unaware, Resident Evil 4 was released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2002, then RE4 was ported to the Playstation 2 in 2004. Resident Evil 5 hit store shelves on the Playstation 3 in 2009, and Resident Evil 6 came out in 2013. Although the latter two titles were flops, the franchise still lives on in the hearts of many fans worldwide.
Physical retail versions are also planned for the relaunch of the classic titles with the same prices of $19.99 attached to each one. Perhaps this year we’ll see the Resident Evil 2-3 remake as well? Only time will tell. For now, check out the announcement trailer below and look forward to these classic titles begin given to a new generation.
