Pokemon GO is heading into the new year with over 100 brand-new Pokemon in tow, which honestly comes as a pretty big surprise to me personally, as I never thought the craze would last past a few months. The new Pokemon looks as if they’ll be coming straight out of generation 2’s Jhoto region. If you played Pokemon Silver and Pokemon Gold you’ll be very familiar with this region as it was where players were finally introduced to Ho-oh, and Lugia the mysterious Pokemon that Ash saw at the end in Pokemon episode 1.
In addition to the 100 new Pokemon which you can find here courtesy of business insider, you can also look forward to more daily quests, and possibly a brand-new move for Ditto: Transform. That’s right, it looks as if Pokemon GO is picking up where it left off and giving players even more of a reason to keep their Pokedex handy as they walk, run, or even bike on their daily commute. It’s important to note that although Niantic has been working on the trading, and tracking system around the clock, there still isn’t an update on when players can trade and battle each other by just standing still.
If I had to place a bet on one thing, then it would be this: If Niantic doesn’t keep up with adding Pokemon, giving players brand-new incentives and allow PvP battles soon, Pokemon GO will fail with the interests of common players. It will also make the game implode on investors due to more flexible games coming out on the market, such as Pokemon Sun & Moon, and the resurgence of Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh could spell a classic 90’s battle royal returning for the new generation.
