It seems like Youtube wants to take on Twitch with their own HD 60 FPS live stream service. And that came as no surprise really, as Twitch has been dominating the video game live stream market for quite sometime now. But that might just change now, as Google´s own video-streaming service has been upgrade to support 1080 and 720p live 60 FPS video streams.

And it´s all thanks to the power of HTML 5. And that feature is actually available right now as a preview build (for the browsers that support it). So Youtube might just get a big advantage over Twitch, since Twitch still uses Flash for it´s streams. And here´s the topping of the cake, Youtube has worked close with both XSplit and Elgato to make sure that Youtube will be able to provide native 600 fps streaming support for their video recording products (in this case XSplit Broadcaster, XSplit Gamecaster and Elgato Game Capture HD).

This is a very aggressive and offensive movie by Google for sure, but a very necessary one. As Google lost the battle over Twitch last summer to Amazon for about 970 million dollars. So Google is simply trying to build an attractive live streaming alternative to Twitch. And this is what Youtube had to say about their new HD 60 FPS live stream feature:

“We know high frame rates are especially important for gaming streams, so we’ve worked with Elgato and XSplit on new versions of Elgato Game Capture, XSplit Broadcaster, and XSplit Gamecaster that support 60fps live streaming to YouTube, available for download starting today,” product manager Alan Joyce wrote in the blog post announcing the new livestreaming features. “In addition, any app using our live streaming API can add a new high frame rate flag to enable 60fps streaming.” – Youtube/Google

So what do you guys/girls think? Will Youtube have a chance in a fight with Twitch when it comes to live streaming services?
