I (Robin Ek, TGG) feel somewhat embarrassed at the moment, because I just realized that Abyss Gameworks had sent us an e-mail a couple of days ago. However, somehow their e-mail ended up in our spam filter…(I will have to look into that matter). Anyways, Abyss had us know that they have released a brand-new teaser trailer for their upcoming sci-fi action/adventure PC game “Tartarus” (you can watch the video further down the page):
“We have finally released our new trailer. You can check it out on our Steam page. Tartarus is a game developed by Abyss Gameworks and that has been successfully Greenlit along with having it’s brand new Steam Store Page and Trailer. Abyss Gameworks employees mentioned that they are working on releasing the game within this year.” – Abyss Gameworks
Furthermore, there is now a Steam page for “Tartarus” as well =) Nice! But what exactly is “Tartarus” all about then? Well, this is the actual features and description for the game:
Story:
In the year of 2230, Mining and Research vessel Tartarus (MRS TARTARUS 220478) activates the security protocol near Neptune without any sign. The only chance for crew to survive is to reach the Bridge and restart all systems one by one before the ship crashes into Neptune. We are playing as Cooper(miner of the ship) who has no education or training about electronics or pilotage; to overcome this, vessels engineer – Andrews- is helping us as much as he can. Though it’s not as easy as it sounds…
Gameplay:
TARTARUS is a First Person game with Action elements, set in terrifyingly dark sci-fi universe. In TARTARUS, you will play as Cooper. You are trying to hack the ship’s systems via using “Terminals”. Hacking the ship is the real challenge. You have to use specific Terminal commands ,which are very realistic, to make it work. Sometimes you have to search “Items” to get information which you need, to solve problems. TARTARUS has retro style elements like iconic sci-fi movies.
Features:
– First Person Action
– Immersive Storytelling with a Rich and Simple Gameplay
– Advanced Text-based Puzzles
– Retro-Futuristic Atmosphere
That sure sounds like promising with no doubt, but it remains to be seen whether or not “Tartarus” is worthy of our time and money. Well, we will know for sure during the summer. As Abyss Gameworks aims to release “Tartarus” sometime during Q2-Q3 this year. So I wish Abyss the best of luck with everything =)
And with that said, what do you think about “Tartarus” so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
