Gamekicker will launch www.gamekicker.org, the first crowdfunding website dedicated exclusively for indie games, on the 8th of March 2016.
Press release:
It’s time for us in the indie community to band together! Crowdfunding is slowly turning into a pre-order system for AAA companies, and funding creative video game projects is being destroyed. At Gamekicker this is exactly why we’ve created a new platform dedicated to indie games! We believe that crowdfunding is meant for creative projects from indie developers who have no other means of raising funds to create their games.
Ironically, at the same time Gamekicker was going to launch a service designed to help small indie developers get a leg up in the crowd funding arena, fig.co launched a 1.5 million dollar campaign to crowdfund a PC port of Rock Band 4, a billion dollar franchise with more than 27 million sales. We at Gamekicker did not want our indie game projects snowed under by this large corporate campaign so we collectively decided to postpone our launch to March 8th.
Gamekicker will be a new platform that supports true indie game creativity as we will only accept projects from independent game developers. We truly need your support from the indie game community to create a healthy ecosystem for indie game development. We ask for your support on the 8th of March.
Features:
– Crowdfunding platform for video games and only video games.
– Access to the Gamekicker Campaign Strategy Guide.
– Personal coaching before, during and after the campaign.
– Active support in generating exposure for campaigns.
– Higher level of screening for new projects.
