Due to the fact that Arch Warhammer is a very popular Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k channel on Youtube, we decided to ask him some questions regarding Creative Assembly’s strategy game “Total War: Warhammer”. So here’s what Arch had to tell us.
Jack TGG:
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do regarding all things Warhammer.
Arch Warhammer:
I am a middle-aged man who enjoys playing with plastic toys and making videos on the Internet about said toys.
Jack TGG:
Let’s discuss Total War: Warhammer. What aspects of the game do you think are better implemented and do justice to the lore and the tabletop game?
Arch Warhammer:
The best feature, in my opinion, is the variety in factions, having several races and nations that play so differently gives the game a lot of replayability. The race best implemented was probably the beastmen, they have a very undercover feel on the campaign map paired with a very straightforward battle experience with mass charges. My favorite overall is probably the vampire counts, specifically due to their focus on big scary monsters and recovery magic to heal said scary monsters. As it gives them a real feel of playing as a proper monster race!
Jack TGG:
What part of the game do you think was poorly implemented and could be improved?
Arch Warhammer:
The siege battles… CA really got lazy on those and village battles making them the worst in the series, and that includes Shogun 1 from the year 2000.
Jack TGG:
Creative Assembly has said that their future plans for the game expanded because of the game’s success. Do you think we’ll see some of the minor nations of men? Which one are you most interested in?
Arch Warhammer:
We might. It depends on the future expansions plans, but I would love to see Araby. As it’s a very different faction than those currently in the game due to their focus on light skirmish horses, and slave soldiers supported heavy infantry.
Jack TGG:
What is your speculation for the sequel? Where do you think the game will be based? And which races will be involved?
Arch Warhammer:
I think it will be set in the new world and include the Skaven, Lizardmen, and the high and dark elves.
Jack TGG:
How do you think they CA is handling the release of content? Because they have given many things (including Bretonnia) away entirely for free.
Arch Warhammer:
They have been relatively generous. My one remaining gripe is that the faction DLC comes with the mini-campaign which many people either don’t care for or actively dislike, removing it would reduce the price and give us more choice.
Jack TGG:
When it’s all said and done how big do you think the trilogy will be including all DLC and FLC?
Arch Warhammer:
I hope it will encompass the whole established Warhammer world. Even so, we probably won’t see cathay or nippon though.
Jack TGG:
Who do you think the “Big Bad” for the second and third game could be? Because for the first game, it’s Archaon The Everchosen, but he can’t be everywhere. Right?
Arch Warhammer:
Well… chaos can do whatever chaos wants, maybe a demonic invasion? but in the new world I suspect it might be the skaven clan pestilens!
